Syndication for 2020-2021!!

Yeah...It's not yet Thanksgiving, and schedules are already being set. Confirmed by Broadcasting And Cable to return next season:
The Kelly Clarkson Show
Tamron Hall
Judge Jerry
25 Words or Less
Divorce Court
Dish Nation
Extra
TMZ and TMZ Live
The Real
The People's Court (just renewed by WB through 2023!)

And...

The new Drew Barrymore Show will go head-to-head with Kelly Clarkson on the CBS O and O's next season. The Fox Stations are also joining the heating up Daytime Talk battle with Nick Cannon, time slots yet to be announced.

America Says isn't returning come Sep even know it's doing better in the ratings than Mel Robbins is doing and that will get a second season from what I have read it official as of yet thou.

Drew Barrymore talker is a go I know which TV station isn't going to take Drew that would be Sinclair since they got both Tamron Hall & Kelly Clarkson CW7 airs Tamron Hall at 11AM & WWMT airs Kelly Clarkson at 3PM.

Another show that KIMA goes through at noon (America Says). Why not put noon news in the budget and be done-wit-it? Nah, they'll just go back to Inside Edition's encore from the previous day if anything.

Mel Robbins announced today she is not coming back next year.

So if Barrymore is supposed to be direct competition to Kelly, how are the O&O's going to slot it? Kelly airs on the East Coast NBC O&O's at 2:00 PM, while CBS has The Talk. The only daytime hours for syndies on WCBS New York are 9 AM (Hot Bench x 2), 3 PM (Dr. Phil), and 4 PM (Judge Judy x 2). Given how popular the latter two are, I imagine WCBS will put Barrymore at 9:00 and move Hot Bench overnight or to sister WLNY.

2020-2021 will be the 25th and last season for Judge Judy! But reruns will still continue to air after that and she will have a new show called “Judy Justice!” WOW! Stations may choose to stick with the reruns. Could you blame them if they did? https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/l...5-seasons-new-show-judy-justice-works-1282015

WCNC could expand its noon news back to an hour, and could add another run of Jeopardy at 3 or 3:30 but not sure what it would do with the other half hour if it doesn’t pick up “Judy Justice.” I would actually put the other run of Jeopardy at 12:30 and look for a replacement show at 3. (If not the rerun package)

Amazing run for Judge Judith Sheindlin. In nearly every season it's been one of the, if not THE, top-ranked syndicated television show.

Currently, Judge Judy has a total of four runs (up to two are new, the third and fourth are always repeats). I imagine the rerun feed will be two airings max.

With Judy and also America Says going and providing multiple new syndie openings, this gives CBS TVD the perfect opportunity to finally start offering a secondary run of Wheel of Fortune. It still makes no sense how it is the only non-news, non-entertainment half-hour show in syndication that only has one airing. Even shows like Inside Edition and Entertainment Tonight offer an "encore" airing for stations to air on sister stations or overnight or in daytime the following day. But every new syndie show, even this season's package of America Says, which was never first-run, automatically gets at least two airings from the get-go. Even Funny You Should Ask, a first-run game show pulling in very poor ratings mostly because of unfavorable time slotting, offers two runs.

Jeopardy! has been offering two runs since at least the 90's. Wheel getting a second run would be very beneficial since it is the most pre-empted syndie show due to its evening time slot restriction. When other shows are pre-empted, you can at least depend on the episode re-airing in one of the other runs, but not with Wheel. I have no idea why CBS TVD has been keeping it at just one run for decades, especially after Family Feud and Jeopardy! began surpassing it in ratings partially because of their multiple runs.

You actually read my mind. I was just wondering myself why there hasn’t ever been a second run of Wheel. But WCNC hasn’t aired the second run of Jeopardy in like a decade. The last time the second run aired was at 12:30, I believe around 2010. Then they replaced it with the third airing of Judge Judy. Maybe it will return when Judy goes off the air completely. I wish they could dump Daily Blast Live and air another run of each at 2. Had the Fox Television Stations picked up the rights to Jeopardy and Wheel, I imagine WJZY would’ve aired the second run of Jeopardy and they could’ve possibly aired another run of Wheel. But they didn’t want to disrupt viewing habits so they rejected FTS’ higher bid. (Funny, WJZY is now a Nexstar station as of Monday)

We get the 'Daytime' Jeopardy! at noon on KNDO, and the regular Jeopardy at 7:30 like it has been since the '80s. Because they are too cheap to produce NBC Right Now Local News at Noon like I believe they should. Why does little KMVT Twin Falls get a midday newscast and no one in central/southeastern WA does?
Same station is too cheap to run the LOCAL morning news an additional two hours on the Fox station where they produce the 10PM news, opting to air Good Day, which is KAYU/Spokane's morning program...

My friend who used to live in Atlanta claims that he remembers seeing a second run of Wheel with slightly older episodes up until about 2007. Not sure if this is true, though. I have yet to see any retro schedules on this site with two Wheels in one day, that is, after the NBC/CBS daytime version was cancelled. Heck, even Game Show Network's most recent lease of Wheel reruns had two airings back-to-back from 12-1 ET (formerly 11A-12P, then briefly two hours from 11-1).

I think it's actually a good thing that FTS did not get Wheel. Since most of its sporting events have pregame at 7:30 ET, which is Wheel's most popular time slot, markets like NYC and Philly would have pre-empted Wheel on a weekly basis. It's already bad enough that this happens in decent-sized markets like Baltimore, Kansas City, and New Orleans, though this happens to Jeopardy! in far less markets than it does Wheel, even the ones that only carry one run of it.

The Sony Email leaks from 2014 did show some discussion about adding a second run of Wheel at the time for late fringe period, but there would have been a mandate that it could not be paired with the second Jeopardy! If any station that didn't have news at 7E/6C were to replace the WOF/J! duo with two WOF's, J! fans would go absolutely nuts. Some CT markets do double-run the two J!'s, though, as does KHQ Spokane. They used to air the second Jeopardy! in the afternoon, but after Millionaire got cancelled, it moved to its 6:30 time slot, preceding the first run at 7:00 and Wheel at 7:30 (NBC Nightly News airs at 5:30 there).

So wait...stations wouldn’t have been able to air the second run of Jeopardy and Wheel back to back in any order at, say, 4 and 4:30, leading into the local 5:00 news (would make perfect sense) but could theoretically air a double run of Wheel in prime access, bumping the main run Jeopardy to the afternoon? That hardly seems fair.

Well, the first part was definitely true, but a prime access Wheel double run may have been frowned upon from the looks of it. Here were the exact Emails from the leak. These were from 2011, so they were referring to the 2012-13 season.

Some may already know this…….a CBS rep told a station today that next season a 2nd run of Wheel of Fortune will be available….only for Late Frg…….Jeopardy’s 2nd run is for daytime. They do not want stations pairing the two as a block in daytime.

We all talked about this and agreed it was a good idea. Not many stations will do it but you agreed it could help the NTI a little and we only used it when we had to.

Don't you remember? I never would have told the sales guys to do this without talking to you.

I'm surprised there hasn't been a double run of Wheel Jeopardy gets a double run on Sinclair first run on WWMT at 7:30PM which has been on at 7:30PM since the fall of 93 along with Wheel at 7PM. CW7 air J at 10:30PM since the summer of 2012 I believe July or Aug of when they put J at 10:30PM after the 10PM news. I thought that Judge Judy would've stayed on until she retired I wonder if WZZM will keep it when it's 2021-22 which comes on at 4PM to 5PM which has been on WZZM since it's second season first season was on WXMI Fox17 in 96-97 season.

Well that is more fair then. It is just as well the second run of Wheel hasn’t happened if it isn’t going to be paired with the second run of Jeopardy. You can’t have one without the other (as the Married With Children theme goes)—at least in the Eastern and the Pacific Time Zones.
