Syndication for 2025-26

I just randomly thought of a theory that could happen because of Jeopardy’s move to KETV in September.

The former home of Jeopardy in Omaha was WOWT, channel 6, and since they air Jeopardy in the 6:00 time slot (they air a 6:30 newscast for some reason), it’s open until further notice. Now, they could tweak some things to the newscast in order to make it orderly, or they could (hear me out) move one of the entertainment shows that airs in overnights on channel 3 (KMTV CBS) to that hour. For context, Extra and Entertainment Tonight air in that order directly after midnight (pun entirely intended but they air after a rerun of The Drew Barrymore Show from earlier in the day), putting them mostly in the graveyard slot (2-6am). To fix this, WOWT could acquire syndication rights to one of those shows to put in the 6:00pm hour. There’s so much more to explain so I’ll continue it tomorrow, whenever I remember, or whenever I feel like it.

Part 2 to a post I made when I randomly thought of something is here.. and I honestly almost forgot what I was even gonna make part 2 about. But I did, so here it is.

Entertainment Tonight or Extra moving to channel 6 is similar to how KETV added Access Hollywood when Daily Blast Live was cancelled last year. KETV has no involvement in my theory but just wanted to throw that out. Actually, I just thought of another programming situation that could happen involving this theory. For some reason, WOWT started airing a hour-long 3pm newscast a couple years ago. My other theory is they could cancel that newscast and put Entertainment Tonight and Extra in its place. This may seem unlikely due to the programs’ preference with CBS and FOX respectively but they have been seen on various NBC stations. As for what happens with the 6:30pm newscast, they could just bump it to an hour. In exchange, KMTV 3 could receive something from WOWT 6 but this seems unlikely due to WOWT’s limited syndication lineup. This probably seems unlikely now that I think about it so.. yeah.

My prediction: WOWT goes to an hour at 6pm.

Gray stations like WOWT want as much local news and as less syndicated programs as possible. I think WOWT will soon have local news from 3-5:30pm and 6-7pm.

To be honest, I kinda agree with you. Slowly as I was thinking of that theory, I realized how out of place that might be, That could’ve been the reason why WOWT introduced the 3:00pm newscast in 2022. But literally 4 syndicated weekday programs? Really??

And now, a break from your Late Show talk-about to show a promo I recorded that more than solidifies Jeopardy’s move to KETV. Plus a bonus note: I don’t know how The Perfect Line and Daytime Jeopardy will compete with 25 Words or Less on channel 3 (all 3 are in the 3pm hour).

Actually the uploading size for the video’s too large :( so pretend I showed you the video.

STARTINGF SEPTEMBER 15, 2025 WBAL WILL MOVE INSIDE EDITION TO 7:30 PM
This is in part due to a new 7pm newscast the station is introducing. The newscast will be anchored by Jason Newton, Ashley Hinson, and meteorologist Ava Marie. With the newscast expansion, WBAL will broadcast 42 hours of news per week, in addition to numerous live local specials and award-winning local programming. This is the newest in newscast adds at WBAL, with them (like KETV) introducing a 4pm newscast to replace Ellen, and a 10pm newscast on WBAL Plus (now known as MeTV Baltimore).

Bonus note about Omaha: I just realized Jeopardy and Wheel used to air on KMTV at 4:30pm and 6:30pm respectively, and now Jeopardy’s going to KETV and it will also air at 4:30.. 😱 Coincidence? I think not.

Re: WBAL

Will “Access Hollywood” be bumped to the 1:35am slot? Or aired a day later at 12:30pm?

From what I've heard, the program is moving to WMAR at 7:30pm with Inside Edition moving to 7:30pm on WBAL.

In a development that has not been announced or reported it appears that the CW is moving their Charlotte affiliation to WMYT in September. Hulu has started sending out notices that they will drop WCCB September 1 and that subscribers will be able to find the CW on WMYT. This has got to be devastating to WCCB who had lost Fox a dozen years earlier. It makes sense for WMYT since they are owned by Nexstar who also owns the CW.
