<font color=3333ff>FYI: I'm only going off on Urban format, since that's really all I pay attention to. I'm not too familia with other syndicated shows for other formats...

From Big Tigger, to Wendy, to Star and Buc, to Russ Parr, to The Baka Boyz and Michael Baisden and more...... it's getting out of hand.

To radio insiders, these fools are some big-names. But many times now, I'm hearing 2-minute "entertainment reports" from folks like Wendy Williams when the station doesn't even carry her show. That's like saying "here's the update from Jo Mama." It makes no sense.

Radio people are trying to push a few big names across the country like ALL people know who they are and they have a cult following.

All of the sudden Big Tigger has a countdown. He's probably the ONLY famous name for the format because of BET. No one cares about the Baka Boyz. They can't do nothing better than the radio station's local DJ.

It's time to stop trying to push major names, and bring back the creativity and localism of the local talent.

You bring up a very good point. My station carries Big Tigger's show and we were disappointed when they changed from Miss Kitty to Egypt for the entertainment feature. Nothing against Egypt, but Miss Kitty was a character that added some flava to the show. And when she left, the vibe really changed.

As for the Baka Boyz I'd beg to differ. I think their show is very entertaining, and while some local talent THINK they can do what the Baka Boyz can do most can't. Most are not as well networked to book guests and get some of the contests that they can. Having said that, the Baka Boyz were on against our station and we beat them every book. But I tend to believe our station was just far superior to the station they were on which became evident when they changed formats on April 29th :)

<font color=3333ff>Yep, I saw that. Congrats to you Russ. I had sent out my package to both stations back in the day.....but it's all good.

But back to the syndication thing, I understand what you're talking about when it comes to guests and contests. Besides that, I have a problem with them having a mix show that does nothing special.

It's always Hip Hop and R&B mixed together. No one ever does just a plain Rap Mix no more. It's also always regular rotation-type music. I think that the show would have more substance if they were like the old "Wake Up Show." The Wake Up Show had a cult following. They broke new music. They played tracks that were not usually in station rotation, much underground. It was a very refreshing, entertaining, and knowledgeable program.

I wish Sway and Tech could come back and do it again. Or the Baka Boyz should really drop the R&B, drop the commercialism, and go underground much like the Wake Up Show did.

This is the reason why I say their show is no different than anything else, because of the commercialism. Anyone can play the same music over and over again and mix Hip Hop and R&B. I ask, please be different if there must be a syndicated show in the first place.
