T- 4 Days For New 96.5 Bakersfield

Wanting to program a station and having the skills to do it are two different things. He's out of radio for a reason. It's time for something fresh in Bako instead of retreads.
 
Who said I was out of radio? HA! I been doing Sirius for the past three years while still doing terestrial radio. I walked out of radio for a reason twice. One was the death of my mother second was my own personal choice. NO IM NOT PROGRAMING KBKO, Nor do I have the desire to program, mix, voice track, or anything like that. Oh wait I take that back I have been doing TV spots but does that really count? Not in my eyes. Radio is a bug some people keep the bug going some say EF-IT. Bakersfield radio SUCKS A$$... As far as skills to program had many offer away from Bakersfield just wasnt what I wanted to do anymore. I will still do my Sirius shows every Sunday and be happy. Evolution is great thing when you can step away and do something that you enjoy and make good money doing it.. I AM!!!!

You're out of radio. The show on Sirius isn't your own show, and it's on at 1am-3am. You may have walked off he job because of your mother (sorry to hear about that), but the second time wasn't your choice, it was because you didn't speak spanish. Let's not forget that the Beat bombed and flipped format to spanish. Those that aren't able to get jobs in Bakersfield radio are always the first ones to say that Bako radio sucks.
 
The Beat never bombed AGM never gave The Beat a chance. Your telling me that a station with a 25-54 demo is going to score big numbers out the box in that demo, your crazy. It took Groove 3yrs to finally see a #1 in the 25-54 demo in any of their day parts. I should know I was the one that did it 2-7pm. My show on Sirius is on 7pm-10pm Sunday nights Violator Radio Ch 40 Hip Hop Nation tune in. If I had the t ime I would do a daily show via isdn. For your information I do speak spanish. If I wanted a job doing Bakersfield radio im sure I could land a gig somewhere if I wanted to "IF" being the keyword... Your statement about those unable to get radio jobs in Bakersfield that say "Bako RADIO SUCKS" only speak the truth. My peers that dont even have a clue about radio even say Dude your town has sh!tty radio stations... I dont know you personally but learn your facts about me before you bad mouth me. Put then who really cares about Bakersfield's boring radio stations?? I dont. So to end any speculations about me doing radio or programming here its not going tohappen it will have to take lots of money to do so. Ill stay where im at without the GM gloating and last minute sales asking for spots to cut. What I will do is enjoy my sanity what is left of it and keep mixing and doing club nights aorund the US. I guess this means I'm going to have to buy my wife a Sirius radio, as she is a big fan of Alex! 96.5 then will be just another bland Bako radio station. The Beat should have been promoted instead of blown up! Bakersfield loses another great talent. Pay in radio, especially the Bakersfield market as a hole leaves allot to be desired, then there is the lack of job security in radio.

DJing in a club or mobile for some reason has always paid better than radio, even back in the seventies we made $25-35hr on the low side in a small club and $100hr mobile. We only put up with the low pay of radio back then to promote our club work, otherwise the $2 an hour we got did not go very far, even with gas at .39 cents a gallon.

As soon as Washington gets with the program regarding the outrages fees the record companies want from streamers, we will see allot of income potential from well programmed internet radio stations. We have our open streams packed every night, the demand is there.

Alex, IF you wanted a job in Bakersfield radio, who would hire you? clear channel? buckley? agm? not likely. If you check your numbers, groove was #1 in the first full book and i think they were jockless. pirate was #1 in their first full book too. it can be done. kebt was horribly programmed and the jocks were retreads. i'm not bad mouthing you and i know my facts, you should check yours. if you didn't care about bako radio stations why are loitering around this message board?
 
Because people like you that love to keep my name in your brain. Thats all. Groove didnt pop a #1 UNTIL THE LATTER PART OF 2004. Where is Pirate at now? TOOOOILET... Groove has done some major improvments maybe Louie learned a few new words "REFRESH YOUR MUSIC". I applaud Louie for making the changes. Stations sounds just like The Beat did. So pull your arb book out and check yourself on your numbers. For the record IM only loitering in the Bakersfield forums im just curious of whats going on. IM not being a media hound for radio im not jonesing to be a radio guy. I just think its great that people bring me up nearly a year after my departure from radio.

Steve I told u about the XM sirius change a few months back while riding in the desert. Oh well. Why wouldnt any of them hire me? Not like I burned any bridges with any of my former gm's. Steve Darnell great guy part with a firm hand shake and said my family comes first. Steve King now in Phx said give him a buzz if im ever in Phx area, Fessler great guy learned alot from him never once had a run in within his path. I have lots of respect for my former GM's. Which leads me to say that I cant say much about you dont know who you are being that your hiding behind an alias. That must cover your rejected Bakersfield radio failures. I guess its time for me to go get an alias now... Time to leave now smellslikeradio is calling the cops for me LOITERING... LOL

Looks like it WILL be classic rock...Clear Channel is selling off KDFO. The Aloha Trust is already listed as owner. Will Bob and Tom go to KBKO? Will they bring in a fresh new morning show? Will the staff at KDFO move over? Who the hell knows.
 
A similcast of the Blaze 105.1,could be possable at least Rick and Jen inthe morning and Calota 10-3.much like KRZR did with the front row on 96.7 Modesto a few years ago.they would just have to run Bakersfield commercials at the breaks. hey add a low power station south of Visalia to fill the gaps.The Blaze,from the top of the grapevine to Turlock.
 
As far a CC selling KDFO I don't think they are ,I think theres confustion because KDFO was on 96.5 for a few months.
