KYLD Taps The T-Man Show For Wakeups
T-Man, A Face For Radio
CLEAR CHANNEL Top 40/Rhythmic KYLD (WILD 94.9)/SAN FRANCISCO inks "THE T-MAN MORNING SHOW" from sister Top 40/Rhythmic KUBE/SEATTLE, replacing STRAWBERRY IN THE MORNING (NET NEWS 8/29), beginning SEPTEMBER 18th. T-MAN will continue at KUBE, and will fly-jock his way back and forth between KYLD and KUBE.

SVP/Programming MICHAEL MARTIN added, "T-MAN is an incredible talent and I cant wait for the BAY AREA to hear him. More stops on the T-MAN tour? Hmmmmmmm."

President/Market Manager KIM BRYANT said, "The BAY AREA will love THE T-MAN SHOW. There is currently not a show like this in the market that has such a wide appeal. His successful history proves to have young men, women and adults engaged, loyal and wanting more. We are excited to bring such a talent to the BAY AREA and look forward to seeing WILD’s continued growth."

T-MAN said, "Coming to the BAY AREA and working for such a legendary station like WILD 94.9 is truly a dream come true. I can’t wait to get started to show the folks there what they’ve been missing in morning radio."

Interestingly, the local PD didn't even get to give the obligatory quote welcoming the new show!

T-Man started his career by having someone send tapes of Howard Stern to him every day, and then copying the bits verbatim.

Hey 'fishcorn'....did you come up with that one on your own?

:-\

KFAT 92.9 in Anchorage used to have T-Man on for the morning drive, but the ratings took a hard hit, so they dumped him and they went back up- wasnt impressed at all.

Maybe you spin doctors should just acknowledge that T-Man's a top tier radio talent and you're very fortunate that he's willing to stay put for a little while longer.
I think he has his work cut out for him to try to make it work in San fran while broadcasting out of the northwest but we in the industry have learned to never bet against him.

Hey Fishy, you don't know what you're talking about. (The T Man), is friend of mine, and you couldn't be more off.

Rob started at a small Ill-fated sports-talk network out of Las Vegas doing overnights before coming to KJR to do night sports-talk. When Charlie and Ty were on their way out, it was decided to move The T Man to KUBE.

He has never cared for Howard's schtick, and if you actually compared, (ie listened), to both styles, you could tell they aren't the same. Come to think of it, maybe you couldn't..

KooKooKachoo...

I also have chatted with T-Man when I worked for Clear Channel regional sales. The show is not Howard, except that it leans toward sexual humor. Beyond that the comparisons don't apply.

My fear is the T-Man Show and the Bob Rivers Show are not shows that work out of Seattle. T-Man was on several stations a few years back and it failed miserably. Same thing happens to Bob Rivers in LA. The reason these shows work is that they are local and have longevity here. It took T-Man five years to outperform the rest of KUBE.

My guess is Clear Channel and Infinity are trying to spread the cost of expensive morning shows by putting them on other stations. They have done this with Kidd Kraddick in Dallas and others. Smart financial move. Clear Channel had nothing to lose in SF, because their expensive morning show had horrible ratings. Infinity has nothing to lose in Portland, where Rivers is now syndicated, because the show had no ratings anyway. Rivers is getting no ratings either, but its cheaper and helps pay for his Seattle show.

It is all about economics.

Everything is correct about DJ Dan's post except the facts!
Paragraph 1 was opinion so we must allow him that...but as I read on i found myself saying "wrong..wrong..wrong..wrong and wrong."
I'm constanly amazed with the amount of people that come on these boards and write things that are blatently inaccurate or untrue.
98% of the people who read this site are people in the industry which further makes me wonder why people do that.

profit, if djdan is wrong, what is wrong about his post..I'm not saying I agree or disagree with his post, but all you said was he was wrong..ABOUT WHAT?!? back your post up before you talk crap about the rest of the posters

AMEN!

I'm surprised TakeItFromMe hasn't added his post to the thread, inevitably moving the discussion back to the unbelievable success story that is FITZ In The Morning.
