Mamma said Monti would beat the T-Man and all mocked mamma. Today mamma was proven correct, again. Funny that the top station in town warm is run by a woman, a woman beat the t-man, a woman now is doing mornings at KWJZ and two at MOVIN and a woman runs the cBs group in seattle. Mamma said the ya ya sisterhood was taking over, yet all mocked mamma...until today!

Don't mean to be redumbdant but to quote my earlier post on another thread:

"It ain't about being a guy or gal its about doin good radio :)" Mamma got a lot right that DaWOLF, JACK and MOVIN would signal a "change is a comin!" But it ain't a guy/gal thing. Its a meter thing. T-Man worked in the diary cause he was memorable the dude stuck out. ::) People wrote him down. problem was they really didn't listen. It worked well for the guy in the diary and he had a great decade plus run in Seattle. It was a meter that killed him not MOVIN or because he's a guy. Props to T-Man for a long run :)

Really??? Monti (???) is the reason the T-Man retired? That show is the biggest non-factor in the mornings. Their boring taped bits are so bad it's laughable. After 12+ years of morning radio dominance, syndication in SF, Anchorage, Pittsburg, etc, and 2.5 million dollars a year in salary, I am pretty sure he didn't decide to leave because of Monti or the PPM. He had nothing left to prove and wants some time off. Why do people need a reason other than that, as to why he left? He could have stayed as long as he wanted to at CC. The diaries seemed to work for him sure, but that's the system that was in place, so be it. To suggest he didn't really have as many listeners as the ratings showed is insane, and just not true. Have a look at the Cume sometime. That show on Movin' cost the company nothing to put on, and that's the biz these days, saving money over paying for talent. So please stop suggesting that Monti, (hold on I'm laughing......) is the reason the T-Man left. The only show that beat him in people 18-34 before the PPM were Stern (during his last week on air), and BJ one book. The PPM is great for shows that are deemed acceptable in the workplace and buisnesses, not really his strong-suit. Most people that comment negatively about the T-Man show haven't listened since '96, or at all for that matter, so please don't buy in to the nonsense you hear about his show from "Mamma".

EVERYONE has the right to move and grow beyond what is "expected" by ANYBODY. To say NOTHING of a single radio conglomerate. T-Man has other things ahead of him and I wish him well.....

Monti is in ya ya 8th place in her key demo. ya ya sisterhood. I doubt TMan even knows who the morning show is on Movin.

Like him or hate him... It was a great run for 14 years.

Thanks MAMMA......(nice try.)

Some reality here. In the August PPM the T-Man ranked 25th 25-54. One year ago in the diary he was third. KPLZ, KJR, WARM, KJAQ are on top. Monti ranked 20th. Did they beat T-Man, sure, but I doubt it is the reason he went from third to 25th. The PPM or changing times killed his ratings. In his core demo of 18-34 he had a ten year streak at number one on the four book. In the PPM he had dropped to 8th place. In August KJAQ, KNDD, KBKS, KISW, KPLZ, KKWF and KJR-AM all had a bigger number 18-34 in mornings. Monti is tied with the T-Man in eigth place. Again, I doubt that KQMV is the reason T-Man dropped from 1st to 8th in the PPM.

Look around the country it is fairly obvious that morning shows on music stations that rely soley on talk did well in the Diary because listeners remembered them and gave them more cume and TSL than they deserved. Same holds true for AM Talk talent like Rush and Sean Hannity who don't do as well in the PPM. T-Man had the perfect show for a decade in Seattle under the diary and deserves a great deal of credit. Whether Clear Channel let him go, or he decided to retire rather than adapt to the PPM world makes no difference. He was the staple of 18-34 radio in Seattle for a decade, much like Charlie Brown in the 70's and 80's, Kent and Alan in the 80's and 90's. Each had their time, for their era. 10 years is a great run. Charlie Brown adapted and went into Oldies radio before retiring, Kent and Alan continue but adapted to AC radio and have new success and dominate Seattle radio again, much to everyone's surprise. I bet T-Man could adapt, but maybe didn't want to chose instead to retire. Congratulations on a great run and to your future success.

Hey, I guess Mamma was right for a change. Lookin at cowboy Dan's post (the sales dude does have numbers on his side!!!) it looks like a woman did beat up on the T-MAn. Her name is RED, she works at the END and since she arrived the station has been number one 18-34!!! T-man has a nice run but the dog ain't got no bark in the PPM world and he made enough bank to retire instead of change his shtick. Got to give him props for that :)

The show that dominated morning radio for ten years, and was on for 14 years and then recently retired, can't even get a thread on a seattle radio website without someone deeming it "silly", "useless", "hilarious". Sorry we aren't discussing Robin and Maynard, or whatever else would be more "useful" to discuss in your mind. His lengthy run is impressive. You wouldn't believe the list of morning shows that have come and gone, all claiming they were going to "take the T-Man Down". Marconi, Andy Savage, Rob Arnie and someone, Ron and Don, just to name a few. Whatever your radio taste is, you really can't deny his success in mornings 18-34. But I look foward to a scintilating post from Seattleradiopro, since this one just didn't cut it for him/her.

Go re-read the original post. The only thing in this thread that refers to T-Man is the title. The rest is just a bunch of unrelated bloviating which is normal on this so-called "seattle radio website".

BTW, if you ARE looking for a thread that discusses T-Man's career, try this one: http://boards.radio-info.com/smf/index.php?topic=152613.0
