Any word as to T-O signing a deal to do a weekly radio show with 97 Rock & The Edge or WGR? No doubt, it would take a hefty investment and there's no guarantee the stations would be able to recoup their money. Disconcerting, that T-O would get paid more money doing a weekly radio show during Bills season than most jocks make in a year. Word is 97 Rock is pacing quite well with advertisers for Bills season, but it's a tough economic environment and reps are working harder than usual to get the inventory sold.

On another note, in a feature story in last Sunday's Buffalo News, T-O had an interesting quote, even though he was talking about himself, "They criticize players for being dull and lacking personality, but as soon as you let your personality come through, they smack you down for it."

That sentiment might also apply to radio.
 
I recall when Uncle Larry Anderson called me at 1am ... to tell me that we were gonna have the Jim Kelly show on WGR. He was really excited!

5 grand a week... sold to Budweiser and one of the car dealers for 5 grand a week a piece... Kelly did well (chump change to him) WGR did well. George Hamberger did a great job with him, and the show was a hit.

Hope T.O. does well too!
 
An employee of Citadel told me that Jim Kelly was paid nearly $40 thousand to do a show during football season for 97 Rock, which was about $5 thousand more than she was earning for the year. If this is true, how much would Terrell Owens get for doing a show?
 
The real question is: How much is a sponsor willing to spend to have T.O. on the air on 97-Rock? Or, any other station for that matter. I'm sure that GR-55 would love to have a T.O. show if they could break even, or make a little on it.

The problem is that T.O. never met a microphone that he didn't like. How much exclusive content can he offer that won't already be known by ESPN, or one of the other national/regional sports outlets?

Great point, Rox. Why pay for the cow when you can get the milk for free. Take note, Andrew. TO soundbites in the locker room will play all week, especially if/when/after something controversial develops. So let's say 97 Rock pays him $50 large for a show. WGR will be all over his soundbites, good or bad, without paying him a dime. Another factor, there may be clients who don't want to be associated with TO, since he's more or less a "rent a player" with a one year contract. OTH, how can the average client not identify with an NFL player who sports $137 thousand diamond earings.
 
You have to wonder how interested he'll be in doing short shots on local radio, when he's opening up large parts of his life to TV cameras already for a reality show on VH-1...undoubtedly for high six to seven figures per season.

To get your money's worth out of him on local radio you'd almost have to offer him a couple hours every day in a daypart where you're now running national stuff...
