T Pain - I'm In Love With A Stripper

The station in Wilmington, NC Coast 97.3 WMNX is playing this song but the one that goes "I'm In Love With A Dancer". Are any other stations playing this song instead of the other one? When is it that you can't say stripper on the radio its not a bad word now is it.

With so many youth listening to Urban radio these days, the word "STRIPPER" could be misleading or encouraging.

Yeah, I mean it could be someone who strips paper..or strips other things, there now you can play the original version...even though it's not even bad, screw radio stations that edit edited songs.

Why is it that< Urbans tend to edit songs, more than what a CHR-Rhythmic will? Also, isnt Coast 97.3 technically a Chr-Rhythmic?

Nope, Coast 97.3 is far from being Rhythmic what so ever, they are definitely an Urban Contemporary.
______________

Because Urban stations has more responsibility to the people they are serving .If a Cop Killer song get played on Urban and CHR-Rhythmic station in the same market and a cop get killed , The Urban station will get more criticize than the CHR Rhythmic station for playing this song .
______________

I can't speak to this situation specifically, but they may be playing the "Dancer" version to avoid problems with out of the demo, closed minded advertisers and not because it's a safer word for broadcasting and thus avoiding complaints or fines.

I personally know of a situation where a key account pulled all their advertising off of an entire cluster of stations because the Top 40 station aired a Trojan Condom add during the American Top 40 Countdown Show.

Sometimes all it takes is for the kid of the person that makes the decision at an advertiser to ask their parent "what's a condom" or "what's a stripper". Of course the parent then says "where did you hear that word" and the kid says "on (station name here)" and BOOM the closed minded advertiser pulls money off the station.

Thangs is strange down south.
______________

Even More Interesting

Our station has been playing "I'm N Luv (Wit A Stripper)" for about four weeks. A promoter recently brought T. Pain in for a club gig and in the spot that was produced (by a production company not by our station) the version they used was "I'm N Luv (Wit A Dancer)".

Oh and the guy that voiced the spot said the title of T. Pain's album incorrectly.
______________
