TABLOID DEPETRO AND THE ENTWHISTLE CASE

Maybe it is because John DePetro comes from the organized crime capital of New England, Providence Rhode Island, but could he get anymore tabloid than his coverage of the tragic Entwhistle case.

That is all he wants to discuss even to the point of making up scenarios on the case. A sad and tragic case but enough already. Move on until there are actual fact to discuss and not rumors.

True, but talk radio, as Howie has said, is "water bubbler chat"
and the subjects that come up at our workplace water bubbler are
likely to be discussed because that's what people want to talk
about. If people weren't interested in this case it would be like
the old Sat. Night Live skit where Buck Henry played a talk host
who was unable to get any calls despite controversial topics,
etc.

Yes but again this is what people want to talk about and listen to,
and if people stop calling/listening, that's when he'll move on.
Let's not deal with insignificant things like facts, eh? :)

Remember when the talk radio dial was full of talk about a former
football player turned actor who was accused of a double murder?
For awhile, it would have made sense for 680 to call themselves
WRKOJ.

The Buck Henry piece is a classic but I think he wrote long before SNL. In fact, it might have been in the days of "That Was The Week That Was" David Frost old show. TWTWTW was far better and more cutting than SNL. Think it was on every Friday night. Probably to cutting to be on TV today without upsetting the crazed right wing. As to Henry, I think his routine was that he hated "motherhood, apple pie and kid..." and he still didn't get calls.
DePetro isn't talented enough to think up original topics of interest on his own.

Ooh, look, here's a transcript of that sketch!

"Let's run over those burning issues once again, shall we? They are, one, "Federally Supported Municipal Bonds" and, two, "Forced Busing"! Remember, toll-free! Totally free! You pay nothing here. We pay for the entire call. [phone rings once, Frank reaches for phone] And here's our first on "Talk Back" right now!... (and, later) Here's another issue that may interest you: "Soviet Communism -- Let's Give It a Chance"<P ID="signature">______________

Thanks for the link but I think the comedy routine was just reprised for SNL and that Buck Henry used it long before that.
