As a Citadel Lafayette employee, this is embarrassing.
-----------------------------------------------------
I feel certain that most of you have heard the very sad news about Keith. But, if you have not, last night around 9pm cancer took Keith’s life. It is a sad time for our Citadel family. Keith was one of the most genuine, kind people that I have ever known.
I had the pleasure of hiring Keith twice while employed in this building. Each time Keith made me proud that I did. Keith’s work ethic and the love for this business were unmatched. The past three weeks have been very disturbing for me as I realized that Keith was not going to be physically able to do the job. I had many private conversations with Keith about that subject. He knew what I was speaking of, yet he never wanted to leave his post. He wanted to work right up until the time of his passing. I am extremely glad that I allowed that to happen.
I will grieve for Keith today. But, I will honor him by replicating his work ethic and his love for this cluster and this industry. I will implore you to do the same. We can honor Keith by joyfully giving it our best, everyday, just as Keith did when he walked these grounds. In sickness and in health, Keith came to work here and never complained. He always smiled, and he never said, that is not my job.
I will miss him. But, I will never forget him. July 13th will forever be Keith LeBlanc day at Citadel Lafayette. Next year we will toast our friend on 13th and every year following.
I know he is in a good place now. May he rest in peace and God bless his soul.
