Taco Bell Runs For The Border, Yanks Ads From MTV's "Skins" Show

It's only a boycott of the show, not the network though, so MTV gets their money either way.

""Upon further review, we’ve decided that the show is not a fit for our brand and have moved our advertising to other MTV programming," he added."

If their anger was stronger, they could have pulled all ads from MTV all together until the show was pulled.

On the other hand the controversy should be great for ratings. They have a clip on
ABC News' website and the show does look like it would have been rated R in 1995.

Some of the actors are as young as 15. It's kind of like the VIEWER DISCRETION
ADVISED................is that to warn the viewers or to SUCK them in???

It's like that joke from one of the late-night comedians when the new TV rating system first went out: Most people say it's not that helpful, but it does help the kids skip the G-rated shows.

Doesn't it have to do with all the nude and sex on this show? MTV has been showing promos during Jeresy Shore, and just this past Tuesday MTV used Jeresy Shore as the lead in. I think the people who watch Jeresy Shore aren't the same people who would watch Skins. To me it seems MTV is trying to do what FX does after 10pm with the TV-MA shows. Niptuck for example.

THIS JUST IN......

General Motors has now pulled all adds from the show as well.

Does MTV's audience even buy new cars? Most first cars are used junkers

GM need(ed) all the business it could (can) get. Small simple car for first time buyer would have been a good ad to run. (point A--->point B & back basic ads)

And the advertiser defection just keeps on going... and you seriously have to appreciate B&C's sense of humor on this one :D :

Do Zit Cream and Video Game makers have to worry about consumer boycotts? I'm guessing the local advertisers that run on MTV are Driving Schools and Senior Picture photographers who are probably more concerned about boycotts. Some Church may picket outside their businesses calling them pornographers. This his how Don Wildmon built his career.
