Tad Bonvie last shift

Hey,
Was listening to Greg Daniels yesterday afternoon and right before he went off the air, he was chatting with Tad Bonvie and said that Tad was leaving the night show at Mix 98.5 next week. Next Thursday will be his last night on the radio. I guess he will stick around for weekends at Mix 98.5. Any idea if someone has been chosen yet to replace Tad Bonvie.

Hopefully, Tad Bonvie won't be replaced by V. Oice Track, Auto Mation, Or Sin D. Cation.

And if someone local is replacing him, I'm sure WBMX-98.5 will promote him or her in advance of his/her debut.

Tad's a great radio guy. Good luck in the future to him.
Last I heard, Lady D was the buzz.

Lady D (Was: Re: Tad Bonvie last shift)

Lady D is a well-known "name" among Boston-area listeners.

Mix will be able to extensively promote her coming to the station.

At least they didn't bring in V. Oice Track, Auto Mation, or Sin D. Cation. Those three ought to be sent to the unemployment line!

She did Mix weekends before going to Star.

Not that they would, because Infinity doesn't use automation. Mix is manned 24-7. They wouldn't carry Leeza if it weren't a corporate mandate.

That said, I'd really like to see Dan O'Brien get nights. He's a local boy, and an impeccable talent.

Oh, really?

Maybe Mix hasn't used automation.....but Infinity certainly has and does.

Just because Mix is manned 24/7 right now, doesn't rule out that they won't bow to pressures (market and corperate) and start.

(BTW....The overnights were indeed automated at one time.)

We got it the first time. Did you really think it was so clever you had to use it twice?

Most of Kiss is at Mix or 103.3

If you think about it:
Lady D
J.J. Wright
Dale Dorman
That's a good chunk of Kiss108's line for most of the 1980's.
All that's left is for Ed and Matty to come over, and we got ourselves a party!
(Lest we forget that Tad was at Kiss108 in the late 80's and early 90's).

Good move for Mix. You have to wonder if they'll move more Mainstream CHR now...?

How can it be his last shift if he will remain there part time?

whatever

look who you're dealing with. yes. And sadly it was not even clever once.

Huh. Bad generalization on my part. I don't believe overnights at Mix were ever automated though. They're a union shop.<P ID="signature">______________

Is this confirmed? There hasn't been anything in any of the trades. Or at least anything that I have seen.

I remember when Joe Cortez was working nights. I used to listen every night to his last hour on the way home, and he'd say "The sattelite channel is up next...".

Not sure if was indeed a sattelite, or local automation....but I remember being surprised to hear him announce it that way on the air.

Also, a union shop doesn't preclude them from being automated.

It doesn't? Please advise. Wouldn't that be taking work away from union members?

The last AFTRA contract at WLTW in New York specified that the station could automate/voicetrack over nights with talent from outside of the market.

At KOST in LA, the afternoon show is tracked/automated....

The union doesn't always hold the cards.

Maybe the only way the union could get a raise in the new contract was to "give" on something....like the overnight.

Maybe they gave on that issue....but got security for the other union members.

Sometimes the union contract does not cover the 24 hours. Sometimes it only specifies that the station will employ 5 AFTRA announcers and the station tends to use them all Between 6AM and Midnight. That leaves the overnight.

So, there are loopholes....

Also, the union is not as strong as it once was....
