Taio Cruz the new British Invasion!

It seems like this will be the next British act to crossover to the US. Tony and other posters are already aware of his "Dont break my heart" single (which I just found out has a radio add date of 2/2).

But It's his other songs on his album that dance stations might be more prone to add. Like "The 11th Hour"

or "Forever Love"

Just about every song on his upcoming US release sounds suitable for pop and rhythmic radio. Only time will tell if he'll be able o follow in the footsteps of Jay Sean and crossover.

I have waved the banner HARD for Taio Cruz with "Break Your Heart"

It's received great feedback on my show on Urban Latino Radio. Once people get it, they will be hooked! Go with the Vito Benito Remix Edit for airplay :)

"Break Your Heart" was my favorite Pop song for the year 2009 :) Loved hearing it on UK stations like Choice FM London or BRMB in Birmingham. They're playing it a lot these days on Poland's leading CHRs (that all lean heavily on Dance) RMF Maxx, Eska, and Planet.
Taio's song reached the top of the UK charts, and I believe he also penned Tinchy Ryder's number one single.

I love this record, I bet it makes a good summer/Spring hit for chr and Dance friendly rhythmics like B-96 Chicago and KTU..... I also love the Planet network in Poland,, not to hijack the thread..

I accidentally heard "Break your heart" this past summer while searching for some Akon remixes on Youtube. I thought it was a good track but Sean Kingston was big at the time and I thought it was too similiar sounding. Just recently,he has been popping up on US music boards so I did some research and now I know that Taio Cruz has been out for some time in the UK.That he produces his own beats and writes his own lyrics and the icing on the cake, that he is big on the electronic dance sound. I could give you more info on his bio but wouldn't want to bored anyone ;D. I think that BYH will be his breakout hit in the US (good catchy song)and I'm hoping some of his more edgier dance sounds make it on CHR (that's what really sold me on him). The Tynchy Rider track I can see on radio here. As well as the one track he did with Ke$ha possibly somewhere down the road but it's all a guessing game at this point.

Wait, I JUST NOW noticed the "radio add date of 2/2" portion of this post.
Anyway, better late than never. I'll probably have a month or two to enjoy it as "new" before I leave, and then in London I'll be told "I'm so behind - get with the times!" Anyway, that's the way it is sometimes. It takes a while before something hits or is released in certain countries. Wonder how long, if at all, it will take "wont go quietly" by Example to cross over into the U.S?

I'm impressed that I actually heard this play for the first time on the radio over the weekend!!! I guess since I refuse to leave until it stops snowing overseas, I'll be here to enjoy it for a while before I go. I love how fresh and new radio stations sound after not listening to anything but Jazz and... well, whatever 89.5 KBAQ is. I guess the term is "classical". Anyway, I have my reasons for listening to that now... but I'm sure eventually I'll "come back". Congratulations to KZZP for busting out the Taio Cruz in the mix before David Guetta and the hyped up Dirty Vegas they mix from time to time.

Whoa - I just checked and I see they actually have Taio Cruz in regular rotation amongst other things!!! Boy a lot surely does happen when you take a "vacation" from your presets! Even Pitbull's "shut it down" looks like a hit now!!! Geez! This is top 40 we're talking about here. I'm VERY glad Pitbull's hit did end up getting the recognition it deserved. I thought it was about to die, but no - it was just that one station picked it up very early.

After some reconsideration, I was about to say that Taio's tune does sound a bit 2009, but I guess since we haven't changed much in sound (due to some of the new upcoming releases I've heard) since then, it's still very appropriate today. Although it is very watered down in sound, I still think it sounds decent. It's just that it's a bit old to me since I was aware of how huge it was in London for quite some time now. I must admit I like it better than Pitbull's new song that samples Dj Sammy's "Heaven". He's proven in the past that he could do better than what he has done with his collaboration featuring Nayer in "pearly gates". If I were Pitbull I'd rather go with "back to the future" with himself featuring Fergie. I guess you could call it "futuristic", but to me it's just modernized electro-freestyle.

Nice to see Taio Cruz getting some airplay in the US. I've been hearing Taio Cruz, Tinchy Stryder, and N Dubz for a while now when I stream Capital 95.8 at work and been playing it loud in my truck. It's a shame that not too many clubs have picked them up in the US cuz it makes great clubbing music. The Jay-Z/Mr. Hudson is also getting airplay in the US but not N-Dubz/Mr. Hudson "Playing With Fire."
