I keep reading about a talk and rock format. There are smaller markets that have done such with varying degrees of success. The one that comes to mind is WMMS in Cleveland, Ohio where they got Bob and Tom in the mornings and Maxwell in the afternoon. But it is one of those things where just because it works in one market it means nothing for the other markets. Just like if a formula works in New York, that does not mean it will work in another market. If CBS Radio wants to do all-talk, they need to first make it more localized and personality driven and less about recapping popular culture and television shows all day. How much babble can the average person stomach about American Idol on a daily basis? Obviously not too much and the ratings show that point. I say stick with the talk format after some serious revamping, retooling, and rebranding. It is very apparent that Free FM is dead and each market should have a different name for their talkers.
