Talent Fee's for Remote's

What does a remote cost? 1200, 1500, 1800????
What does the Air Talent Get for doing said Remote?? 50, 75, 100, 150.

At a Remote over the weekend the client told me, " You're not getting enough
of the Fee they are charging me". Good point Well Taken...

Seems every Jock in NE TN is getting short changed. How about 30% of the
remote fee? That would be fair. Car Sales People get 30% of the profit on
a car sale. Make 1000 on a car get a check for 300.

I'll take it! The talent fee in this market is criminal, considering what
the stations are making. Just a sweet way to
stiff someone who is making a third per year of what management
does. Nothing new in this area, the real question is what
can be done about it in a market hogtied by the circle of three?
I know in one of the biggies there is serious talk of a union.
What is the real possibility of that?

Don't think a Union would help much here, Most Jocks couldn't afford
the Dues. Plus we would spend all of our time outside holding signs and
freezing our butts off...then the Mgmt would just hire some ETSU students
to take our place and run syndicated morning shows, midday shows and Delilah
at night. Man has Radio changed in my 24 years in the biz. I may not
be the Greatest OAT but I am local and I can tell you when your kids aren't going to school or where the traffic tie ups are during your 15 minute commute.
That's gotta count for something. Then again, I guess it does count for something, 10 bucks an hour and 75 bucks for a 3 hour weekday remote 7@#$%^&
______________

I'm convinced

That's why practically any "personality" with talent leaves either the Tri-Cities or the business.

I once worked for a small station in the market- full-time- $10 a day. Before taxes.

Chip Kessler, Marty Osbourne, heck I heard even Jerry George was looking to get out of the business.

These are all talented people- but they have moved on because they weren't getting paid what they were worth.

I'm usually against unions- eventually they cripple the industry. But at the same time- from what I know now- why not?

What do you honestly have to lose?

Well....Most jocks just sit around waiting for thier next on-air break during remote. I think all you lazy asses...including Russ Allen...should get what your employer pays you per hour. Unless you are requested by the client...then you have made an impact. $25 an hour is MORE than enough for KA-NOX-VILLE

Thanks for thinking of me, nice to know I made a lasting impression on ya.

Some jocks get drunk at remotes, even some that are live broadcasts (allegedly). Heck some jocks of a station that no longer exsists used to drink adult beverages in their on-air studios during their shifts over on Old Kingston Pike, but I digress.

My ass doesn't do many remotes, too lazy I guess but $25 an hour? Maybe that's what you get when your sales manager used to on the air during midday show and announces a special sale for any buisness that calls in "right now" will get 25 mentions and a two hour van appearance with call ins for $250.

But why bring up the past :)
______________
