Talk 97.1?

Yeah, well, the Easter Bunny told me himself that Citadel would not declare bankruptcy, and look what happened there.

on a serious note, I don't see CC paying for talant when it will cost them less money to do msuic with the people that they have. The raitings are too bad, so, I don't see them going talk.

And plus why would Howard Stern come to The Eagle? Didn't they dump Lex & Terry because of the talk?

Charles 123: You are missing the point, whoever Mr. Freeman is, he does not have the power to prevent a format flip. Clear Channel corporate decides what format they want to do on any of their frequencies, so, if CC said they want to do hot talk on their 97.1 Dallas station, they will do it.

Radioaircheck: CC will come up with the money if they really wanted to go through with this.

Want to skyrocket to #1 in the ratings almost instantly?

Work out a deal where Stern does a couple hours on almost all clear channel stations (and then the rest on satellite), bring in Russ to do afternoons...Hell, Bring back Lykis, too, who cares, with Russ and Stern on in Dallas, you're #1 in both drive slots.

Charles123 want's us all to think he's a very important person, getting all his information from the source....Well, I believe you.

But seriously Charlie, relax a bit. This is just a bunch of people saying "what if", not "what is". Let us speculate, where's the harm in that? No reason to get twisted.

All of the talent mentioned in this thread would be an improvement, but costly. Besides, "Mandatory Metallica" is SO much cheaper!

J.D. Freeman is the market manager for Clear Channel (Dallas)

, you're #1 in both drive slots.

Except it's been a long time since Russ was #1 in PM drive. Not 6+ and certainly not in their demo of M25-54. And having been off for a year or more, what makes you so sure he'll rush back in and retake that position? He'd been sliding for years, because his schtick had gotten old and tired.

But hey, if you want to think that Howard (who never hit #1 in AM drive) and Russ (who hasn't seen #1 in PM drive in years) are going to shoot to #1, you go right ahead...

Right! F.. Howard and Russ! EVERYONE knows that "Two-Fer Tuesdays" from bands that my dad enjoys will be the ticket to the top..

Funniest thing I have read on here in a long time. ;D

I'm not saying it will be a long standing #1. But lets say that on a Friday after Chris Ryan's shift, they start playing the batman theme and whatever theme song Howard uses, looped over and over until Monday at 6am when they kickoff...Don't you think there would be a ton of listeners tuning in?

Russ's stuff might have gotten tired and worn (same with Stern), but a year and a half off the air to reset, no more boring, "Hey Gavin, what are you doin?", and far removed from his off the air transgressions could regain a bunch of listeners? And advertisers.

I'd tune in.

People think that what he did scared his image for life. Not so. Leonard Little (manslaughter), Roman Polanski (kiddie diddler), Boy George (hooker beater), Jayceon Taylor (pulling a Russ), Kiefer Sutherland (driving drunk every other week), Tom Sizemore (lots of funny things), Michael Jackson (don't need a comment here), Mike Tyson (Rape), Pee Wee Herman (Diddling himself), Kobe Bryant (Accused of rape), Lawrence Taylor (drugs, hit & run), Any Dallas Cowboy, Josh Hamilton, Jason Kidd (pulled a Russ)...

Anyone who roots for the Mavs, loves Jason Kidd! His face is plastered all over DFW billboards. Kidd pulled the same thing Russ plead to (http://www.thesmokinggun.com/mugshots/kiddmug1.html).

Time heals all wounds. People forget. Especially if you can come back and entertain them.

Really? How's that working out for Mel Gibson these days? Once you're exposed as being an A**hole, people don't just forget that..

The #2 movie last weekend with 17 million in ticket sales. Not too shabby for being exposed as an A**hole.

This isn't Hollywood and RMS didn't get convicted nor have the women of DFW organized against him the way Jews and MADD in SoCal did against Mel.

Dallas has a long history of forgiving knuckle-dragging behavior. (See #Michael Irvin.) And for some inexplicable reason, Dallas also enjoys obnoxious male opinion machines. (See Dale Hansen and Rush Limbaugh.)

I don't have a dog in the Russ Martin fight. I'm not a fan or a hater. And thanks to the Ticket and KERA, my radio listening is spoken for. But if some station puts him on the air, I would be shocked if he didn't rebuild a significant fan base. AFter all, 90% of the airtime in this market is full of generic, boring crap. A guy with so many fans and so many foes who listen just so they can bitch will pretty much resume in the top 10 of his demo by default with plenty of room to grow.

NOt possible. People on this board insist that if you are out of circulation for a year and a half, you are irrelevant. Mel hasn't stared in a film in seven years. Since the general wisdom of so many experts cannot be wrong, I must assume your ticket sales numbers are false. ;D
