Fox News and politics make strange bedfellows.According to Talkers' Magazine's somewhat dubious "research project," Tony Snow was tied with Al Franken and financial advice guru Jim Cramer for the 13th largest talk radio audience (actually that should be 26th largest, counting all the ties for larger audiences). In that, he trails former Nixon Administration "plumber" and convicted felon G. Gordon Liddy (#12) and former Bush the Elder Administration "drug czar" Bill Bennett (#10). Reportedly, the administration thinks that Snow's experience arguing with callers and guests, qualifies him to deal with often difficult reporters.Fox feeds Snow's program live 9 am to 12 n ET, which puts him up against fellow conservative talkers Mike Gallagher from Salem (#6), Laura Ingraham from TRN (#5), Glenn Beck from Premiere (#8) and Liddy from Radio America (in hours two and three) among others. The show is mostly heard in smaller markets - often on delay - and often only one or two hours of the three hour show. Now, however, we can expect Stephanie Miller (#14) to use sound clips of Snow on her show, so he will be a continued presence in the late morning daypart. No word so far from Fox on whether anyone will fill Snow's radio slot.Snow Will Take Press Secretary Job, White House SaysThe talk about FOX NEWS RADIO and FOX NEWS CHANNEL host TONY SNOW becoming President BUSH's press secretary have become reality with word from the WHITE HOUSE that SNOW will take the job. An official announcement could come as early as TODAY (4/26). SNOW will be replacing the departing SCOTT MCCLELLAN; several reports indicate that SNOW, who was treated for colon cancer last year, had waited until getting the go-ahead from his oncologist before taking the job, and was cleared after medical tests administered last week.SNOW does a daily radio show for FOX; the network's plans for his show and timeslot are yet to be announced.
