Talk Host Looking to Jump to AC

I have a bit of a dilemma. I've been doing nothing but talk for the last six years. Unfortunately, the show that I'm a part of (Free Talk Live) is going to be moving operations to New Hampshire in the next couple of months and I will be unable to move along with them. This means I'm currently looking for other radio-related work in the area for the time being. The local Clear Channel branch has an opening for on-air talent on their AC station. I want to apply for the spot, but I don't have any music experience. Any demo that I could put together would consist of clips from talk shows. Is there anyone who has made the move from talk to music that could possibly share some stories or advice? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I think most go the other way, to talk and away from music. You better think hard, in the A/C format there is a lot of just shut up and play the music. I don't think you'd like that. Find a production room and do an audition tape of their format. Listen to what they are doing and do your version. You just need some intros and outtros of music a couple of PSA's, a promo, and some personality content about 2-3 minutes worth is fine.
