Talk of Connecticut's New Weekday Line-Up

The Talk of Connecticut has a new weekday line-up. Noteworthy is that they have not picked up Laura Ingraham now that she's back with a new syndicator. Also Mary Jones gets a big promotion now on live weekdays 3PM-6PM. Finally a decent local alternative to Rowland the Felon on 1080.

5AM-6AM Wall Street Journal This Morning
6AM-10AM Brad Davis
10AM-12PM Andrea Tantaros (Replaces Laura Ingraham)
12PM-3PM Dave Ramsey (Replaces Mary Jones and one hour of Ramsey)
3PM-6PM Mary Jones (Replaces Ramsey and TRN's All News Block)
6PM-9PM Wall Street Journal Wrap-Up
9PM-11PM Michael Savage
11PM-1AM Mike Huckabee
1AM-5AM Phil Hendrie

Note 1: They have not changed the schedule listings for the weekend yet. I haven't been able to tune in to see what replaces Dr. Joy, Food Talk, and The Car Doctor. These are 3 shows that got the axe from WOR when Clear Channel took over WOR.

Note 2: I wonder if The Talk of Connecticut will eventually put Laura Ingraham back on the air. When her show first moved from Westwood One to TRN The Talk of Connecticut initially did not pick her show back up, so the now-defunct WXCT 990 picked up her show. Then a few months later The Talk of Connecticut picked her show back up and WXCT had to drop her.

The Talk of Connecticut is:

1360 AM Hartford
610 AM Torrington
1240 AM Waterbury
1470 AM Meriden
102.9 FM HD 3 Hartford

What a waste of air space!
All the communities served by those stations would be better off with local hosts and programming.
But then, I suppose that would cost money. Can't have that!
Don't get me wrong, that crew isn't a terrible bunch of people, but it's bound to be bland, and relatively meaningless.
I know my two cents doesn't matter much, especially since I'm not even in Connecticut anymore, but really...
When I look at that line-up, I don't find myself feeling as if the programs will be 'too good to be missed'.

And to be fair, and just for the record: Our stations in Pennsylvania are just as bad or worse.

If it was me 610 would go dark. Torrington's already being served by Litchfield's 97.3 FM.

I'd make 1240 Spanish Language Top 40 Station. 1320 is already serving Waterbury's English Speaking Community well. And Waterbury has been without a Spanish Station since WFNW flipped to Spanish Christian Programming over a year ago. And one FM in Waterbury is in Hartford (WWYZ) and the other FM in Waterbury is in Glastonbury (WMRQ).

1470 I'd make it hyper-local serving Meriden, Wallingford, Southington, etc.

And 1360 I'd make it Oldies and program it similar to WARE in Palmer, Mass. (Yes I know they're licensed to Ware, but their studios are in Palmer).

Dave Ramsey's okay, but now they're moving his show to a time slot where two-thirds of the show is pre-recorded (he's live 2-5 PM ET)? They'd be better off picking up Alex Jones or even Dr. Daliah to put in that time slot - both are live during those hours. Either one would make for a great fit between Tantaros and Mary Jones. Then you'll have live programming for 17 hours straight, seven of which are local.

First, kudos to WDRC for local programming in the 3-6 timeslot, against the Felon. (How he manages to work anywhere is beyond me, especially at a 50,000 watt station). However, does Jones do politics or will the show be along the lines of "How to grow daffodils in Farmington? As for Brad Davis, I know the man is a veteran in the market, but shouldn't he be retired in the Florida sun by now? Andrea Tantaros? Why is it that every right wing nut job seems to have a radio program. If WDRC was going to air a FNC loser, try "Brian and the Judge",in the same time slot and WDRC can double up on two FNC losers!!! Alex Jones? Is this the Alex Jones who was stopped by TSA agents the other day and thinks that Obama is the anti-Christ? If you want a REAL female radio personality that actually knows how to do a show, try Stephanie Miller. As for the end of the day, we have the secular bigot, Weiner and the Christian bigot, Huckabee. OH joy!!!!

But it doesn't matter,as within six months, WDRC AM will unveil its 1986th lineup change within the last year and will still be showing a 0.5 rating, (if we actually had the numbers to see). Oh, BTW,isn't Spanish Christian actually broadcast IN SPANISH???
