TALK RADIO IN MOBILE

When if ever will local talk return to the air-waves in Mobile, AL.? With the firing of Ron Fraiser on 1480 WABB AM it leaves 1 and a half hours of "Uncle (Chris Smith) Henry." My theory is Talk is too hot to handle from an advertisers' perspective especially in a post-Imus world.

It seems like the field is wide open for a full-time talk talent to shake things up like Curtis R. Lynch used to back the Ole Mike Malone days.

Too hot? You're an idiot. Local talk radio hosts mean one thing to advertisers - listeners from a very desireable financial bracket. That is why talk and sports talk radio stations make ass loads of cash every year.

Mobile needs a great FM talker...... As the Former PD of WABB-AM I saw the potential but it can't truley be reached with any of the current AM's in the market... The market is so big and the Alabama clay doesn't help those am signals to well. Would love to see someone do it..... Who knows maybe 104 will go talk next

You won't see talk on AM or any other station soon. Half of the AM's have dead air pockets, or unfilled commercial windows. The FM's are fighting to make their numbers (revenue). Needless to say few are doing well and making it.

Wasn't FM talk tried on the 105.5 out of Baldwin County?

I remember none of the Mobile AMs ever really having much reach other than 660. As a kid it was always a struggle for me to listen to Don & Mike on WABB back in the day, down in Gulf Shores!
