TALK RADIO SHOW THEME SONGS

Re: Stephie Miller--oh that's right! I tuned in when she debuted on WWZN in Boston and heard that (Walking on
Sunshine)

My City was Gone I think was the B side of Back on the Chain Gang and talks of her home town of Akron, and how
"the farms of Ohio had been replaced by shopping malls". One story I heard was that Chrissie's mom is a Rush L
listener and CH isn't happy that the song is identified him but she (or whomever wrote the song) gets royalties
from it, no?

Hynde is quoted as saying she let Rush still use the song if he gave to PETA. I will add that after the 2004
election, in which Ohio is said to have put GW Bush over the top, he played the whole song, accenting the
line "hey-ho, way to go Ohio".

Hannity and Daniels: CD has also shown some patriotism with songs like "In America" and "That Ain't No Rag,
It's A Flag".

Anyone know Michael Savage's themes? I mean after the announcer, the two songs that they mashed together? The first part is Motley Crue "Looks that kill", but I don't know what the second band/song is. Any ideas?

Thanks raccoon - I did find that out in the meantime. I think they could have crossfaded the two a wee bit better than they did!

The best theme song I ever heard for a show open was Lars Larson's use of Thunderstruck. That was really cool...

I don't think Mike Trivisonno has used any of those mentioned songs for some time. He's been more recently rotating in original, presumably listener-contributed songs specifically for his show, and hasn't really had a "main theme" song per se.

Re: Rush and "My City Was Gone"...there was no intent on making people think, as far as I've heard. It was just an instrumental. He's been using it since his local days in Sacramento, back in 1984-1988.

...for the entire 14-years-plus of his syndicated show, Tom Leykis used "Enter Sandman," either the Metallica original or, after Metallica raised hell with some file-sharing site, a tribute band version Leykis himself downloaded from the site Metallica griped about ;-) ...

I remember when Tom had his KFI show the last song played was "The Way it Is" is by Bruce Hornsby & The Range. I loved Tom's KFI show as he was definitely on top of his game. That song made me sad because it meant the show was over for the day. :'-(

Then I listened to Tom's syndicated FM show and knew his career was over. :p

...yeah, sure. A dozen years of #1 ratings in L.A. in the money demos are a sure sign of a dead career? :) ...

NEAL BOORTZ- "The Heart Of Rock 'n Roll" by Huey Lewis & The News.

CLARK HOWARD- "She Drives Me Crazy" by the Fine Young Cannibals.

DAVE RAMSEY-"Baker Street" (Opening) by Gerry Rafferty, "Money" (Closing followed disclaimer from the announcer) by Pink Floyd.

JIM ROME SHOW-"Lust For Life" by Iggy Pop (Top of the hour); "Welcome To The Jungle"
(Bottom Hour) by Guns 'N Roses; "Up All Night" (Final Segment) by the Boomtown Rats.

KIM KOMANDO SHOW (Yes, that is her real name)-"She's A Lady" by Tom Jones.

ALEX JONES SHOW-"The Imperial March" from "Star Wars: Episode V, The Empire Strikes Back" (1980)

A Sunday morning computer show on WRBZ Raleigh that's been on for 10 years called "Comptuters 2K9" [changes every year] often plays "Computer Love" by Zapp & Roger.

Ohio- Rush has often said on his show the reason he chose that as a theme was not just the driving bass beat that would get your attention, but because it was written by a great liberal and this would get people talking- "Why THIS song?"

Hynne's mother is, indeed, a Dittohead.

There was a time about 10 years ago when Hynne really did try to get Rush to stop playing the song. I don't know what the settlements were, but for about two days he used a track from the Allman Brothers and it really wasn't the same.

I found a great driving punk track that fits with my air name, "El Chupacabras" by Groove Ghoulies. It's even in Spanish, and lasts a perfect :60 UNCUT. I was shocked when I found this gem a few years back. Perfect for my show to set the tone.
