Mention talk, and you hear the same 5 names over and over, but I'd like to know who you think are tomorrow's talk stars (and please for the love of God, don't vote for yourself). And if any of them can be heard on the internet, please post a link.

Your question seems to assume that good local hosts want to get into syndication.

Not necessarily so.

There is way too much syndicated product out there, much of it not that good. But in any case, there are not enough talk show slots in any given market to clear many - if not most - available syndicated shows.

And the trend is away from syndicated talk, especially among top performing stations in major markets. We are starting to see stations drop syndicated shows and replace them with local programming. Expect to see more of this.

And the trend is also away from continued dominance of political talk. So tomorrow's up and coming host - local or syndicated - may be doing something else. Lifestyle talk. Advice talk. Hot talk. Water cooler talk. Or some kind of talk nobody's thought of yet. And they will probably be doing it on FM. Talk radio as we know it won't be around much longer.

Besides, radio has been developing a habit of going outside radio for new talent. Occasionally lightning does strike; mostly it does not. But the up and coming hosts may be doing something else right now.

Your wish is my command.

There are archives there for your listening pleasure. The show's nowhere near perfected as of yet, but once I'm afforded a legitimate opportunity, watch out!!!
