Talk Show For Men

I was wondering if anyone knew of any stations that are interested in a show that is targeted at men. This would be a show that was about dating, cars, sports, poker and men’s issues. Tom Leykis is the only game in town. I think there should be more shows like that but offer a greater variety of topics. Any thoughts?

they tried it in miami 640wmen mantalk ,even had mancow & leykis but it failed.... they flipped to sports

Actually, all of KLSX is geared for males, that's their demographic...so it's not just Leykis, the local misogynist. Don't mistake hatred for women (or as Leykis likes to describe us as "bitches") for the one show geared for males. All of them are supposed to attract and talk about issues important to men.

Most men do not want to listen to talk...they want to be entertained. Women are the emerging category for talk stations. Could a female politcal type be in the horizon in LA?

There's too many female oriented stations as it is, there's needs to be more men geared stations and shows. It gets sickening more and more the way it's going. The wholw FM spectrum will end up being that five letter p word ied. Need more stations like KLSX and male oriented music stations overall.

I disagree that men don't listen to talk. KFI gets very strong ratings with men and most of talk radio is conservative men. What I am tired of is tuning in late night to hear women discussing what men think, which I have heard from time to time in L.A. The other show that deals with relationships, LoveLine misses the mark in my opinion. I guess I just envision a different take on guy talk than a fat dude in his garage, hiding from his wife sneaking a look at internet porn. I can't be the only guy in L.A. that feels this way. I think this is a better bet than going back to dance on 103.1 or AAA on 100.3.

I really appreciate all of you that are participating in the discussion. I want to create something unique in this city and I need all the feedback I can get.

KLSX is pretty much the king of man talk...they have the old host of the Man Show doing mornings for cryin out loud. Best of luck in your venture!

I agree that KLSX is geared to "man talk;" however, "Jack (KCBS-FM) is geared to the man that wants music. Then, there's the "Jill" format that is supposed to attract women that want music. My wife believes that it's too "mushy."

As for KFI, they've got Dr. Laura for the women; so, it's not essentially a man talk station, but it is primarily man talk.

Personally, I believe there's too much geared towards men. Most stations, it would appear, believe that women are still second class citizens. I find that a little bizarre because I know of several women that have more money than men, and they're basically an untapped gold mine.

3 stations in LA out of how many? That's not alot of choice for us guys who want more main radio.

Most markets outside of LA don't have alot of man radio as it is as well and that's the problem.

This is one of the most uninformed comments I've read in a long time.

TALKradio audiences lean HEAVILY male.

A man talk show that I enjoy is 3rd shifting with John and Jeff. I do like the variety of topics they cover. But I admit, when they go back to the relationship talk, which is their main deal, I just switch somewhere else. It's the same repetitive lines : " Does your girlfriend.............................."
The problem I have with Leykis is the same as I have with Bill Handel: they constantly interrupt the caller from making their point, like they have to dominate the conversation. But then I find taking relationship advice from a 4 time divorced dude hilarious. Even more so, parenting advice from someone who clearly states he dosen't want kids. LOL!

The other man show I really like is " The Motorman with Leon Kaplan " on KABC.

All I hear on Loveline is: what rock band is playing and listening to teenagers with drug and alcohol problems. What does that have to do with sex and relationships?????
