Talk Show Host Salaries

Can anyone give me an idea of what the salaries (contracts) of the hosts on 101.5 or, any other large market radio stations, in this state are?

I remeber an article in the star ledger, probably about 10 yrs or so ago, that stated, at that time, some nj1015 hosts were in the 6 figure range.

Just want to know.

Just asking if anyone knows about what their salary might be, thats all.

I'm sure there are others out there with inquiring minds also.

With groups like Citadel trading at $0.17 and Entercom bothe about to be delisted from NYSE, they're cuttin talk hosts $$ almost everywhere, as well as other talent. Those overleveraged companies are choking on debt.

Jeff Katz, PM Drive at GM's WBT A/F Charlotte was just replaced by a semi-rookie who was doing 9 to midnight! And Jeff had solid numbers and revenue. But the thinking is possibly "we'll lose some of both, but still make more money".

In the grand scheme of things it all depends on the airshift time. Of course the morning drive jock will get more than the overnight jock, but in terms of dollar amount I think the point is moot. There's too many variables to say what amounts to what a certain talk show host makes, like the size of the market, the format, if the jock has other duties at the station, if the host is syndicated and such.

I guarantee you that any host will say they're not making enough. What I think dictates pay salaries more is the host's passion and honesty which makes it entertaning, resulting in increased listeners. If you're looking for specific dollar amounts from specific jocks I would have to agree with the other posters here in saying that it's none of your business.

If the talk show can SELL sponsors, it'll be more attractive. Some show hosts get a piece of the action and even help to sell the show... as you develop an audience and your opinion is respected, you may do live-read commercials for a premium. So you've got a shot at salary + percentage. It's all in the art of the deal IMO.
