Let's do a little something different...

I'm gonna divide all the local radio talk shows in to 3 categories, and you tell me which is the best in each.

The 3 categories are:

General (politics, local/state/national/world issues)
Mancave (male targeted Hot Talk which may or may not include some sports)
Sports (straight up Xs & Os jock talk)

In the General category, we have:

Wills & Snyder (WTAM)
Mike Trivisonno (WTAM)
Bob Frantz (WTAM)
Lanigan and Malone (WMJI)

In the Mancave, we have:

The Really Big Show (WKNR)
Kiley & Booms (WKRK)
Rover's Morning Glory (WMMS)
Alan Cox (WMMS)

In Sports, we have:

Munch in the Morning (WKNR/WWGK)
The Hooligans (WKNR)
3 Deep (WKNR)
Sports Night (WKNR)
Baskin & Phelps (WKRK)
Bull & Fox (WKRK)
Ken Carmen (WKRK)
 
You could add to the Sports list "The Sports Fix", which is a weekend show on WHK and "Sporstpulse", the Tuesday evening (9pm) hour long show on WBWC.
 
"Male-targeted Hot Talk" is redundant. Hot Talk (a.k.a. Shock Talk or FM Talk) already targets a male demographic. Hot Talk is also a widely-used industry term dating back to at least the mid-1990s.

Everything on WKNR and WKRK-FM is Sports, however a case could be made that their morning shows are part Sports, part Hot Talk.

Rover and Alan Cox are Hot Talk.

General - Wills and Synder
Mancave - Alan Cox
Sports - Bull and Fox

I like all three of those shows because the hosts are entertaining and keeps the topics interesting.

3 Deep is more than sports and the 2nd best show on KNR behind The RBS

Frantz' s category should be "Unlistenable" and Triv's should be "Retired 5 years ago and just mailing it in now"
 
3 Deep? Really? Three horrible radio voices all cackling every 10 seconds about a Tupac reference? I'm all for mixing in entertainment and sports, but are any of those three legitimately funny or witty? I think Cherry has a lot of potential but the other two are essentially behind the scenes guys. None of which capable at hosting a show with any staying power.

I think before too long, Cherry will be bumped up to RBS. He appears frequently over there anyway.
