Talk Veteran Lynn Samuels Dead

Most recently heard weekends on Sirus / XM, prior to that, longtime WABC-AM New York (the lone "progressive voice" on the station) and before that on WBAI-FM.

Whatever you thought of her politics, she was a great broadcaster and will be missed.

A true individualist.

Lynn was the kind of talent that made talkradio so interesting, unlike the echo chamber it is today. The partisan hacks who pass themselves off as "hosts" these days could learn a few lessons from her.

Irrespective to ideology, Lynn was very funny and very colorful. THAT is what great talkradio is.

I liked her very much on the rare opportunities I had to hear her. I remember her joking she didn't want to be anywhere near the city on the one year anniversary of 9/11. Just too much emotion, memories, excitement - all of it - just too much to be around.

I was a political polar with regard to her worldview. And her voice to this mid-westerner was like fingernails on a chalk board. But when she was on WABC and they would blow in on Sunday evening, I never missed her show.

RIP Lynn.

She would weed out boring callers for Matt Drudge when she was screening calls. Everyone talked about that...is what she would say.

Lynn was a stark counterweight to WABC's heavyweight, Bob Grant. Her on-air persona defined her as the next door neighbor you wish you had. I disagreed with 90% of her views. But she was pleasant, a welcome respite from the shrill combativeness otherwise heard on both sides of talk radio. Yes, she will indeed be missed.
