TALKER Doug Basham back on KDWN

Seemed to be doing a non-political talk show Sunday afternoon. Guess they kissed made up...KDWN and Basham.

I heard a promo for the show. I believe it's called "the ex's"..the first radio show hosted by a divorced couple. I didn't know Doug and Debbie got divorced.

What I remember most about Doug's political show was that he was against the Iraq war...years before most Democrats said anything about it.

Doug was my board-op my very first night on KDWN in September 1998. I was a nervous wreck!

He taught me how to run the board, so I could run play those old carts myself...Wishing you well, buddy!

Might be, I wonder if the guy in the 5-6 am slot is paid? I don't really care what it is because at least it is something different and someone is paying for it as they do everything.

He could stick a label on a beverage and sell it on the air, what is the difference between that and buying time?

I don't agree with your beverage analogy. A radio informecial would be like opening up a beverage and instead of getting a liquid refreshment you would just get a label.

I remember some guy Ken Hamlin out of Denver used to advertise "furniture polish" ...just get a 55 gallon drum of something and put it in little bottles and sell it on the air.

These contract commercial kitchens will produce private labeled food products (I'm sure that is what that national host uses, or something like it.) I have seen a couple websites that do "private label" wines as well.

I remember some self-important station manager called off a debate between Casey Henderson and Doug Basham out at UNLV because "Basham bought his time," of course the other guy was a guy who won a "get your own talk show" contest. Regardless, the kids out at UNLV were let down.

So because some manager who lasts a few years before getting canned hires someone does mean much to me one way or another.
