Talkers Magazine's "Heavy Hundred": Rush #1, KIRO's "Ron & Don" #59

Unless I missed it, where is Mark Simone? He is the one bright spot on WOR and does better than Curtis and Kuby, Geraldo and Joe Piscopo.

With Rush still seen as number one, does this really help Ron and Don? So, when is talk radio going to realize that this is not 1995? I'd like to see some middle of the road talk instead of D vs. R all of the friggin' time...and no, NPR is not middle of the road and Alex Jones is a mental case.

I hear local callers on Jim Rome, Doug gottlieb, and Scott Ferrall on KFNQ, maybe not every day but they make it in and it's all local callers on Steven Sandmeyer. Lots of local calls on 710ESPN and KJR 950.

I know they are AM sports stations and don't count to allot on this board. I have even heard local callers on KTTH shows.

For the national Sports Talk shows Seattle is talked about allot due to the Seahawks and now the Mariners being predicted to go all the way in the national sports talk. With this come more Seattle callers.

I almost exclusively listen to talk radio of all types because I appreciate how a good talker convey themselves over the air. How they punctuate a point, use the pregnant pause, handle callers, and handle subjects. Overall sports radio can be very comforting to listen to if the others are talking politics or a subject you don't want to listen to.

Ford....

John Curley takes local callers or do you mean national shows?

I was actually referring specifically to Ron and Don, as they don't seem take calls from the public like they used to. Either way, Ron and Don are excellent hosts, but their show has certainly changed over the years. Sorry for a confusing post.

I agree. I was listening to KGO the other night, and I enjoyed hearing a conventional show where the host throws out an opinion and people call in to dispute or support. I rarely sample the sports talk stations, but i'll have to make a point of doing so.
