Talking Information Center Budget Update

As you may have heard, The Talking Information Center (Radio Reading Service for the Blind) has had their annual budget cut in half by Deval Patrick. It was originally something like $500,000 and it has been cut to around $250,000. This would mean that some affiliates around the state would go dark. It also failed to be restored by the Ways & Means Committee.

On Monday night at 12am, the House successfully restored all funds to the TIC budget with an additional $10,000 for Audible Local Ledger in Mashpee, so it now lies in the hands of the state senate. They're asking everyone to contact their senator and ask them to support the restored funding and language to the radio reading line in the MCB budget, line item 4110-1000.

I know I will!!!

Hopefully we can get this money restored so this great service can stay in operation.
