Application has been made for transfer from Dorothy McClure, current owner of record and widow of Chuck McClure Sr., to Cherokee Broadcasting, which is the company that their 3 kids (Chuck Jr., Peggy and Joe) own.
It's never been completely clear on who owned what. That's fairly typical of family-owned businesses.
Speculation is that a sale to another buyer is imminent, but that would have to wait on the approval of the first transfer. It's common knowledge that they have been shopping it, as potential buyers have been touring the place.
Personally, I think that unless they've resigned themselves to getting a lot less than what we've heard they wanted, they're not any closer to selling. Radio stocks, are getting hammered in the market the last few weeks. Could also be an estate planning move, since I've heard Mrs. McClure is not in good health.
That's about all I know.
