Tampa Bay's AM stations

I dont live in the Tampa/St.Petersurg area but I live in the big bend and Tallahassee. I live in Crawfordville Fla. Well in Tallahassee we dont have alot of AM station like Tampa Bay does but I like AM 820 playing Spanish music. Also I do get WDAE-AM 620 and AM 680 (Rumba 680) and a few others from Tampa. I dont know how do their AM singals goes all the way up to the big bend area that strong. It very nice to hear some spanish music on AM dial.

You are getting the over saltwater effect. Here along the coast around Tampa, we can hear 550 up in the panhandle, 870 New Orleans, 1060, 1600 a 500 watt station in Key West. I'm sure there are others but they escape me just now. I know over on the east coast, you can hear 690 WOKV formerly the Big Ape up in Myrtle Beach SC.

Tampa's 820 must put a good signal into the panhandle as I'm able to clearly receive it up here in Columbus, GA anytime during the day! Considering I'm some 200 miles inland, that's a pretty darned good signal.

Daytime power 50,000 watts

Nighttime power 1,000 watts

WMGG 820 is on a clear channel freq (not the company). At night the prominant station on this freq is WBAP in Dallas. As soon as WMGG cuts power, one can readily hear WBAP most nites. Florida is home to many stations with nite authorization on clear channel freq's. In Tampa, we have 760, 820, 1040, and in Ft. Myers there is 770, 1200. There may be others, but this is all I can think of.

Not only the transmitter power,
at night their antenna pattern produces a deep and broad null toward WBAP.
It looks like their day pattern is also near city grade in the western Florida Keys.<P ID="signature">______________
