Tampa Eclipses Miami

Hey Tampa - Do something about your stations. For the 3RD morning in a row many of the Miami area FMers were drowned out by their frequency counterparts in Tampa. Instead of the 'Y-100.7 Morning Show With Footy, Froggy, & Adam' I got 'MIX-100.7's Morning Show With Nancy & Mike' on the short drive to work this morning. 93.3-FLZ also came in loud and clear as if the stick was on top of my condo's roof.

As a point of reference I live a good 30 miles southwest of Miami just a couple of miles north of the infamous '18-Mile Stretch' en route to The Florida Keys. Those signals were screaming right through The Everglades !

I know ... It's the atmosphere causing the skips. It's actually quite refreshing at times. Someday I'll actually live in Tampa - and pick-up the Miami stations early in the morning !

The skip was so bad this morning (Fri) that I was having problems with WQYK, WSJT, and WFUS in St. Petersburg!!!

Aqui en el sur de Miami I was actually able to pick-up the Miami area FMers without the Tampa interference early this morning for the first time this week. I know that Tampa gets hit from both sides (Miami and Panama City). The Miami stations scream right through The Everglades (and vice versa) at times, and the Panama City stations hop, skip, and jump their way over the Gulf Of Mexico (and vice versa).

I have a friend that lives just south of Marianna Florida that frequently picks-up Tampa area UHF stations via his antique over-the-air rooftop antenna.
