This is big news people!
So far Hot 101.5 is a very Rhythmic/Pop sounding station.
While Tampa already has a Rhythmic in Wild 94.1, WLLD is focused primarily on Hip Hop and R&B crossovers. The new Hot 101.5 is much more of a Rhythmic/Pop station so you'll hear a lot of Bruno Mars, Black Eyed Peas, Britney Spears, Katy Perry, Pitbull, LMFAO, Lady Gaga, Jason Derulo, etc.
To better differentiate themselves from FLZ and Wild I'm guessing Hot will be playing a bit more Dance titles as well in the coming weeks. While I don't expect 93.3 FLZ nor Wild 94.1 to sit by idly if they really feel like they have a major threat on their hands, I am not of the opinion they will overreact. After all, we haven't seen Z-100 NYC or 102.7 KIIS-FM L.A. over-react when they got a new competitor. Instead they stayed the course, and focused on what they do best.
Anyways, here's a comparison of what 93.3 FLZ and Hot 101.5, sounded like Thursday evening at 6 PM:
93.3 FLZ
Adele - Rolling In The Deep
Katy Perry - TGIF
J-LO - On The Floor
Jason Derulo - Don't Want To Go Home
Ke$ha - We R Who We Are
Lady Gaga - Edge of Glory
Chris Brown - She Aint You
Rihanna - S&M
Band Perry - If I Die Young
Eminem - Lose Yourself
Katy Perry - ET
Hot 101.5
Usher - OMG
Lupe Fiasco - The Show Goes On
Lady Gaga - Just Dance
Pitbull - Give Me Everything
Afrojack - Take Over Control
David Guetta - Sexy Chick
Nicky Minaj - Super Bass
Katy Perry - ET
Rihanna - Only Girl
Britney Spears - Till The World Ends
Far East Movement - Like A G6
Adele - Rolling In The Deep
Pitbull Hey Baby
Jason Derulo - Don't Wanna Go Home
Flo-Rida - Right Round
Katy Perry - California Girls
As I said over on the Tampa board....
Major fail after major fail after major fail....
I've started listing them on my site www.thepowerpig.com
In 93-3FLZ's defense, it's had rhythmic top 40 Wild 98.7 sign on against it, then Wild moved to a MUCH bigger signal at 94.1 to better compete AND to help Wild beat FLZ, they flipped the 98.7 frequency to adult top 40 (Play 98.7). The plan was for Wild to grab younger FLZ listeners while Play would hopefully grab 25-35 females. Even with THAT well executed plan by Wild/Play, FLZ has still had record numbers 6.8-7.4-7.5 (March-April-May 2011) and is #1 in cume with 842,200. Pretty impressive. If the Wild/Play plan didnt work, I'm not sure what HOT 101.5 expects to achieve. in a few months, this will be another station Tommy Chuck can just pat on the head, tell it to be good and send it to it's room with no dinner.
Yeah. CC likes to use "Now" lately. I also forgot other CC CHR's that include the "Now" branding in one way or another, including 105.7 NOW/WMKS Greensboro/WS and Y102.3 - Hit Music Now/WZNY Augusta, GA.
