Tampa now has 12 HD stations

In searching the dial with my BA radio today, I found 12 stations on the air, 4 with HD2. They are

820 WMGG
970 WFLA
89.7 WUSF & HD2
94.1 WSJT
94.9 WWRM & HD2
97.1 WSUN & HD2
99.5 WQYK
101.5 WPOI & HD2
102.5 WHPT
104.7 WRBQ
105.5 WDUV
107.3 WXGL

I think its interesting that as much noise as Clear Channel makes about HD nationwide, they only have one station on the air locally, CBS has three, while all six of the Cox stations are now on the air.

While I dont speak spanish, WMGG sounds really good with great stereo.

98ROCK will probably be HD & HD2 & 3 over the next 30 -60 days. Our new digital studio just went online last month and the HD transmitter is being installed up in Holiday. The other stations in Riverview have a space problem @ the tranmitter site that will take a while to work through.

Not counting radio people in the business, there are probably more stations broadcasting HD then there are radios to receive it.

I can't wait until we have a few more AM HD's, that way the 20 kHz hash on each side will obliterate everything else. Fortunately, I never detect any similar issues with FM analog receivers.

Re: Tampa now has 12 HD stations...So What!

does anyone really care, or should they? it's not going to produce any more jobs. if anything take away more, so what's the big deal? ???

About the same time Sat. radio became CD quality. However with only 1 or 2 side channels it does not sound NEARLY as bad as most of Sirius and XM.
It also depends on who's setting the processing as well.

Anybody in the Sarasota / Bradenton market gone to HD ????

102.5 is HD and they are licensed to Sarasota with transmitter off Verna Bethany Road in Manatee County. So, yes there is an HD station in the Sarasota Bradenton Market.

Shhhhhhhhhhh!!!!! Don't tell Cox. They think it's a Tampa station.
