DUV flies high.
"Country" is doing well on US.
The Vibe keeps rising.
The Beat barely goes on but is fading.
FLZ manages to hold onto what it has.
WRUB must check a box somehow that keeps it useful.

Question... maybe David can explain or anyone else.
Does Tampa have a major ppm issue with Spanish speaking households? compared to Orlando, Miami or Ft Myers/Naples the Latino stations in the Tampa market seem to not do very well in ratings at all. Even Sbs with all the national shows and evets etc. etc. is way down on the list of ratings. Anyone know why that happens in Tampa?

Remember two factors in the Tampa Hispanic market:

First, a large portion of the Hispanics there date back to the Cuban political refugee migration over 100 years ago when even some of the cigar industry migrated to Tampa. Those Hispanics are several generations removed from listening to Spanish language radio.

Second, a big part of the newer arrival Hispanics are from Puerto Rico and are predominantly middle class. Many of them, as they did on the Island, listen to English language music. And since being bilingual is "normal" in the middle class in Puerto Rico, they have no issue listening to English language general market stations.

I want to think SBS looked into that before dropping money on the station they purchased.
They had to buy both, I believe: Orlando and Tampa. So even if they knew they could expect lesser results in Tampa, they made the purchase as the "must sell" price was favorable.

Also, SBS isn't just in the radio business. They are in the concert business. If they have a show going on in Orlando, a lot of listeners can take the trip up the I-4 to attend and they can promote in on El Zol.

Even when I took a trip to Disney World, I always made sure to go down to the bay for Busch Gardens.
