Tara's kids stuck in Cancun...why no coverage?

Tara Hitchcock's step children went to Cancun last week and were caugh up in the Hurricane Wilma mess. Tara returned from her own vacation to Italy last Monday and mentioned that another family had called and left a voicemail that her kids were okay. She was unable to contact her kids or the other family (that was her tale on Monday). All of the local stations carried reports about the Arizonans that were stranded including the family of a Maricopa County Sheriff Deputy who seemed to be the spotlight story on every newscast.

Last night, some of those who were stranded, returned on an US Airways/ America West flight. Again, the news media only highlighted this one man, his son, daughter-in-law and two grandsons.

Why didn't 3-TV use the opportunity for an exclusive with one of their own for the story on what happened?

That's obvious...Tara doesn't work for Mc12News!

Could have been Tara's wishes or her husband's. Not everyone in television is looking for every opportunity for exposure.

Guess we just have to wait for ABC-15 to do the story with a reporter "Live" at Sky Harbor or 5555 N. 7th Ave and submit it for an Emmy.

It just seemed strange to me that it was talked about (ever so briefly) on GMAZ by Tara, Scott and Marty, yet here was an opportunity for an exclusive with any insight that Tara might be able to give on what they did to survive the ordeal and KTVK did nothing.

As I read this, I started thinking about little Bailey. I think the Patti/Bailey commercials are great. But in six years is she going to regret the spots?
