Taylor gets a promotion!

T

Tenn Radio Boy

"As reported in R&R today"

PD Jay Taylor, who has been upped to the newly created position of director of programming and operations for RadiOhio Inc.

[EDIT]

Most recently he was OM of Triad/Mississippi Media's cluster in Gulfport, Miss., until his arrival at WBNS in May 2006.

Congratulations to Jay.

I thought the trends were down on 97.1. The Fan can use his help. Bad signal, over rated talent. Maybe he can do some magic there.

Congrats to Jay! He is truly one of the good guys in C-Bus radio, and obviously very good at what he does. I couldn't be happier that he has been rewarded for his hard work. Chocolate covered coffee beans for everybody!

They say when you see the light from a star, you are seeing something that happened thousands of years ago. I am assuming some people get their news via the Hubble telescope?

Just messing with you, Tenn....but you ARE a bit on the late side with that.

I'll back you up Tenn. Notice that he is not just the PD any more, he is also handling operations for the whole Radio arm of the company. In regards to the trend, look beyond 12+ and you'll see a huge change in numbers over the past 18 months. You go Jay!

Taylor has done a tremendous job with WBNS and I applaud him on his promotion. Great Job!!!

Gee I didn't think I was that late! It came out on the R&R website yesterday. Good luck to Jay and the Wolf Family stations...both of them. It's got to be hard to have decent numbers and not get on the buy because of the critical mass other groups have in the market.

Best of luck to them.

All Access also mentioned the news. Definitely kudos are in order to Jay from someone who left 97.1 during the progressive talk days of AM 1230 and returned to enjoy the mix even more.

Just one more reason to root for the local guys.

Pardon me if I sound cynical, but being promoted from Program Director to Director of Programming? It sure doesn't sound much different! ;D Only in radio...

Except in this situation Jay will be in charge of all on air programming for THE FAN and MIX...If I read the info correctly in AllAccess.

Friends and Countrymen:

A clarification, and an apology.

At the time of my comment, I thought that Tenn's post was a a revival of a long-ago event. The edits threw me off. I should read more carefully.

If it seemed I was being petty, or catty, that was absolutely not my intent. (I have seen posts on other areas of this forum that are in that "long ago resurrected" vein; meaning, according to Merriam-Webster, in part: 1 : to raise from the dead; 2 : to bring to view, attention, or use again.)

For those that were taken aback or offended, I apologize.

To Jay: Congratulations! I hope you find the position both rewarding and challenging.

Best,
JbC

Congrats.."Biloxi boy" does well in Columbus too.
:)

Just to let you guys know, in case you haven't been there... Biloxi is a very competitive radio market. You have several out of market 100,000 watt class C fm stations from New Orleans, Mobile, and Pensacola blasting in... plus you have not only Clear Channel and Triad, but also a locally owned group that is very well programmed. If you only count the FM stations, it is a 30 signal market. When I first moved there almost 20 years ago, there were 2 CHR's in New Orleans, 2 in Biloxi, 2 in Mobile, and 2 faint signals from Pensacola. For those of you who yearn for some competition for WNCI, you would have loved being able to select from 8 options!
