Taylor Swift

Are you a guy? That explains it. The girls LOVE her. LOVE. Go to a concert. The only guys are the fathers of the girls who love her. Or their boyfriends. Sometimes both.

Yes I do..

They don't play Tove Lo much

The first Tove Lo single did quite well but stalled before reaching the top of the charts. The jury is still out on the second one. "Blank Space" replaced "Shake It Off" at #1. Taylor Swift is HUGE right now! By the way, I started becoming a girl about six years ago, when I rediscovered CHR. :)

Taylor is now burning up the charts with "Style", so you'll be hearing a lot more of her for some time to come.

While topping both pop airplay charts, "Style" lost momentum in sales and dipped after only reaching #6. It may have something to do with being the third single from the album but it didn't seem to hurt Katy Perry a few years ago.

Does she still have hits that appear on both CHR and Country charts? Or does she now release hits specifically for CHR, and others that are only for Country?

Last night on the Billboard Music Awards, not even a hint she was ever country. And that music video was too violent for such a good girl.

I did like her outfit. For reasons that should be obvious.

I feel like I'm watching an old Andy Hardy movie.
She wouldn't have worn THAT in an Andy Hardy movie. Though when my PBS station was showing those old Turner movies on Saturday evenings, Judy Garland came very close to showing us what she shouldn't have, and in that era actually did show us more than she should have, when coming out of the shower.

I didn't realize that people actually took showers between 1933 and 1968!(It's probably some kind of flesh-looking cover. Otherwise, the Hays office would have come unglued!)"It's 1938, for crying out loud!"...Andy Hardy Your move.

I had the opportunity to go to a library that still subscribes to the actual Billboard magazine. It's so much easier to look at it there than online even when libraries have access to a PDF version.

I don't think I can provide links, but several articles talked about Taylor's shift from country to pop. One said that for "1989" there weren't even country versions of the songs, while there were for "Red". There were some gorgeous photos of her, many in ads that celebrated her Woman of the Year status. Yes, I'm that far behind.

I forgot to look for a link but a Charlotte Observer columnist who covers the arts and is 60 years old finally decided to give Taylor Swift a chance. All he ever said was what people expect him to be like and how he has become willing to be open-minded. He never actually said how he feels about Taylor.

In another related note, Parade magazine quotes James Taylor as learning Taylor was named for him. Now James Taylor is a singer I like.

...and here, I thought all this time she was named after Swift Current, Saskatchewan. :)
