I'll venture a guess: Online-only, based out of Seattle (or is that North Bend?).

CBS won't re-up at the current rates and no other major group will put out the coin for such an expensive show.

A station now in the process of evolving. Watch for an announcement, later this year.

Lemme' guess. They're moving to that 7kw flamethrower exactly 2MM cycles up the dial? 'cuz if you're going to lose money, you should lose a LOT of money?

highly doubt CBS/KZOK would let the top rated "bob rivers show" go. sure CBS radio is overwhelmed with 150 radio stations, and the ad revenues are down, but like General Motors letting go of the oldsmobile, they aint gonna let go of the chevrolet. mcmurphyschmidt has a few puzzle pieces he's willin to share, i'll bite on this one: "a station now in the process of evolving": is this the much threaded about, and looking for an owner, 104.5 FM KMCQ? so here i sit in this radio saloon, bellied up to the bar, with a couple drinks too many and ponder this to my fellow radio saloon mates ina slurred speech: "lets imagine 104.5 FM gets purchased by a new conglomerate group of owners, several of which may be seattle radio veteran illumni, maybe even including mr rivers". "a ratings winner right off the starting line? bob rivers is the key". now someone show me to the radio saloon door................hey, who took my truck keys?

Top Rated? Maybe 5 years ago. His numbers are no where near what they used to be. DEFINITELY not high enough to justify the salaries on that show

There are a ton of reasons why Rivers shouldn't or wouldn't want to jump ship at this point in his career, but the only one that probably matters is if there is somebody out there with a big enough wallet to lay the magic number out on the console for the taking.

Of course creative license and control might be a good reason to hit the road even if it means a little less up front. The big corporations have been putting the squeeze on creativity and spontaneity ever since Janet Jacksons boob made it's infamous Super Bowl appearance (can I say that here without the NFL freaking) and a show like Rivers could thrive working for a less restrictive company.

KIRO isn't what it used to be and IS evolving. KIRO, as we will see, will be a perfect fit for the new Bob Rivers program.

Part I like is if that pans out...Rivers brings Twisted Tunes, Dave Ross has parody tunes. To those of us who won't know any better...we'll hear all that music on 97.3 and assume they went back to oldies this coming fall.

I have been thinking for some time now that a Bob Rivers KIRO Morning Show seems like a good fit for the direction KIRO seems to be trying to go. Certainly Bob, while a bit more right-wing than I am, is intelligent and fairly Seattle-moderate in most of his opinions. He has, in the last couple of years, integrated more of a political-analysis vein into the show. I agree with others, though, that his show doesn't work without the banter of all the characters. Even when Joe is gone for a day there is a gaping hole. Would be a huge shame to lose the great mix of personalities he currently has showcased.

I hadn't read this until now but it makes a comment that Joe made this morning jump out in retrospect. Something about being "currently in the market for a job like that" in response to a quip about lazy jobs. Struck me as a little odd at the time & now seems telling. Maybe.

who is mcmurphyschmidt? a trial balloon releaser for KIRO/bonneville, or a bob rivers agent plant, to stir up the negotiation heat this $ummer? like i said in my previous post, i highly doubt CBS is stupid enough to wave bye bye to bob. CBS will do what they need to keep this top nationally known morning show in CBS hands. if CBS found their pockets full of more dust than cash to support this expensive morning show, as some posters have stated, they could easily abort several of their regional giggle, giggle, contrived morning shows in some of their markets, and syndicate bob rivers to a national audience on several CBS stations. in a nut shell, it sounds like bonneville wants bob. cant blame them..... its the "only" local seattle radio show this ol' boy still listens to.

A trial balloon on Radio-Info? Right. You're better off with those brilliant, and original, "KPMS" references.

"...this top nationally known morning show..." sounds good in a press release, but it means zilch when a morning show that costs well into the seven figures is being equaled or beaten in the ratings by a station that has no morning show.

Call me cRazy, I knOW you want to, but I imAgiNe that they alreaDy have their next morning shoW alrEady SelecTed.

It would be wise for KZOK to renew Crow. In case they chose not to renew Bob Rivers, they would need to have a great talent in their pocket for mornings.
Hmm, yes, I see that KZOK did renew Crow.

Hmmm Crowski doing mornings on KZOK can't say that would be a bad thing he certainly has the street cred for the job, question is would he want to get tossed back into morning radio? You have to admit he has a pretty good gig right now and I am sure he doesn't miss waking up before the chickens.

If that happened would he be calling on say a partner from his radio past to help him carry a morning show? That could open up a whole host of potential scenarios now couldn't it...

my money's on Paul Anderson in the starring role as McMurphySchmidt... only the agent for Rivers and Crow could gush like that!
