TBS pulls one-hour of "Saved by the Bell"

Saved by the Bell which has been airing for years 7AM-9AM on TBS has been cut to 8AM-9AM as of last Monday May 2nd. Replacing "Bell" in the 7AM-8AM slot are 2 episodes of the popular 90s sitcom Home Improvement starring Tim Allen. I say good move as Nick-at-Nite/TVLAND weren't treating the show with any respect. When I cut my cable down to basic only and lost TVLAND I noticed TVLAND was airing Home Improvement at 4AM!

Thank god Home Improvement is way better than Saved By The Bell. They go thorugh all the episodes in one month and I swear if I see that Vegas Wedding episode one more time. And why is TBS repeating the same episodes. There was another spinoff which lasted 7 season on NBC.

I believe TBS is realizing that, as a basic cable network no longer attached to a broadcast channel (the former WTBS - and don't give me that "but they're still seen in Canada" jive), they don't need to air shows like "Saved By The Bell" in order to meet the E/I quota. ::)

When TBS was showing "Bell" after separating from its broadcast station, didn't the show still have an "E/I" bug in a corner?

As someone from the Saved by the Bell generation, the show has held up oddly well. I think the campiness of the show- the giant cell phones, the bad clothes, the lack of any sex or even innuendo- make it this strange relic of a more simple era. I think thats why it still attracts an audience on cable, even though it drew a fraction of the ratings of shows like Home Improvement when it aired on Saturday mornings.

It's one of those shows that didn't last long in it's original run but has a long life in syndication like the Brady Bunch. The E/I thing probably helps, surprised the Brady Bunch isn't E/I
