TBS=The Baseball Station.

You darn right. Instead of The Braves, We'll be getting The Jays-Red Sox game over at The SkyDome in Toronto. I think TBS will continue on with this relationship with MLB, and that means WGN happens to be the only Superstation carrying its own local teams (White Sox & Cubs) to all over the entire country. I think we'll be seeing more of Chip Caray instead of his Dad, Skip. Chip happens to be the lead voice of TBS MLB coverage. I think the Braves might pop up from time to time on THE original SuperStation-which now focuses heavily on sitcoms, stand-up shows, and other comedy programs. The Braves can now be seen locally on PeachTV-Which happens to be an Independent Station formerly known as WTBS.

Skip Caray and Pete Van Wieren are now only employed by the Braves Radio Network. The Peachtree TV broadcasts have been really good so far this season.

WHile Chip does play-by-play for TBS on Sunday, who does the same role for PeachTV, Fox Sports Atlanta, & SportsSouth?

And due to Skip's illness (he has diabetes and congestive heart failure), he will only be doing Braves home games.

Peachtree TV = Chip Caray/Skip Caray & Joe Simpson
FSN South/SportSouth = Jon Sciambi & Joe Simpson

Chip will call play-by-play on most games on Peachtree TV, except when he is away for TBS Sunday. Then Skip will be there, or sometimes Skip & Chip will do games together. Most Peachtree TV games are home broadcasts, so they should be OK, though there is a Friday game coming up at Shea Stadium.

Chip also does the Braves Radio pre-game and post-game shows, except when he is away for TBS. And he'll be doing a lot of away radio since Skip is only doing home games.

Mark Lemke is also a part of the Braves radio team, and will be an analyst on selected road games, as he was last year. Jon Sciambi also does a little radio when the schedule dicates, primarily on Saturdays when the Braves are on Fox's game of the week.

Toronto does not have a Sky Dome.

Wasn't Bob Rathbun most recently a part of the Braves TV announcing team? He was the main play-by-play person during the final year SportSouth was known previously as Turner South.

Toronto does not have a Sky Dome... Or a baseball team anymore.

Toronto's Convertible-Roof Stadium is now known as Rogers Centre; The Jays happens to be the only team left in Canada. The Expos left Canada for Washington a few years back, and they're known as The Nationals. They have a great Ballpark, and one of these days-They could host The All-Star Game there.

Um, for those of us who don't believe in corporate naming rights, it still is the SkyDome. Rogers isn't paying me uber-millions of dollars say their name, so why should I give them a plug?

And, for what it's worth, it's still Comiskey Park in Chicago, Jacobs Field in Cleveland, the Oakland Coliseum in Oakland, and I'm calling the new Mets ballpark the new Shea Stadium. And that's for starters.

Interesting you mention Jacobs' Field in Cleveland because many people are upset over the name change. Since many Clevelanders/NE Ohioans are not the smartest in the bunch :D, they seem to "forget" that Jacobs' paid for those very same naming rights that they're ticked off about.

Of the 30 MLB ballparks across America, 16 are named after their sponsors. Minute Maid Park in Houston is one of those 16 parks.

The New Comiskey Park is NOW US Cellular Field; The Jake In Cleveland, Ohio is Now Known as Progressive Park; The Coliseum in Oakland, CA is Now Called McAfee Coliseum; And The New Shea Stadium is now Citi Field.

Turner Sports has a contract for Sunday-afternoon baseball starting this year. WFAN in New York has run commercials for TBS baseball that refers to "The Superstation" -- TBS wasn't mentioned by name.

Turner Sports also airs most of the Division Series and one of the League Championship Series.

It was always Citi Field considering it hasn't even opened yet.

Oh, It will be, Man. Next Season, Both New York Teams will be playing in Brand-New Ballparks. There will be a Brand-New Yankee Stadium as well.

That's WGN, actually. TBS no longer uses the word "superstation' in its branding.

And if you're been watching Superstation WGN lately, they're more emphasis on the "Superstation" part, rather than "WGN". Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but it seems that Tribune (especially under the new ownership of Sam Zell) might be trying to separate the WGN brand from the Superstation. I know that the Trib has been trying to make Superstation into the mold of USA, TNT, and what TBS is now.

As for TBS, I've always thought that Turner does a really good job covering, and I caught a little bit of the Boston-Toronto game. I also caught the Pittsburgh-Atlanta game last Monday night on Peachtree, and the picture quality was amazing. DirecTV has a channel set aside for the Peachtree TV Braves games (Channel 617) for those areas who can't get the games locally in the Braves' broadcast territory and its commerical-free. Liberty Media, who's the majority stakeholder in DirecTV, now owns the Braves.

Well at least when Rogers bought the Blue Jays and the Skyome, they didn't change the name of the baseball team to a bird that's red! ;D :D

(Red is Roger's main color while Blue, being the former color of the SkyDome, is actually the main color of a competing company that provides sattelite tv service, stomping all over Rogers cable in Toronto.)

Getting back on topic, in Toronto, it's Peachtree tv and not TBS as a channel option, but that may change...
(unless Rogers Sportsnet picks up TBS games, respectfully.)
