TCM Bundled on Comcast Digital with Unrelated Programming

I live south of Boston, Massachusetts and would like to get TCM but Comcast Cable has bundled TCM with stations I would never watch such as: Oxygen, Wisdom, g4techTV, Bloomberg,The Speed Channel,International Channel, Outdoor Channel,Fox Sports World, NBA-TV, Celticvision, fuse, BET on Jazz and Fox Movies FXM. With the exception of FXM none are related viewing. Seems a strange bundling. Why would Comcast do that? Hate to pay another $10.00 just to get TCM when it used to be part of my regular cable package.

Is anyone else having this problem and what do you suggest? I have just emailed Turner Classic Movies to make them aware of their position within Comcast Digital Cables line-up.

Because they are greedy bastards.

Perhaps you should look into a dish.
______________

Yeah, I guess I will go to the other cable company in Milton........
Sure! Comcast bought and paid for every pol they could get their wallets on.
And their customer service is rude and most speak broken English if you are lucky.

No strange: The idea is to get you to upgrade. TCM knows. Not much they can do. Comcast is the five ton gorilla in the cable universe.

I agree: Get DirecTV. (DirecTV also has the only fully digital TiVo/DVR units and they let you record two programs at once.) Customer service people speak English and are reasonably human.

Yeah--like the bundles on Dish or Direct are any more reasonable than the ones Comcast or any other cable company offers. TCM is in upgraded packages on both services. BTW, Direct's major customer service center is in India and is the subject of angry discussions on satelite boards all the time.

I beg to differ with you on both points.

TCM is part of the basic DirecTV "Total Choice" package. (I know, I have "Total Choice Plus" and know which channels are part of the upgraded package. Would you like the list?)

And their customer service -- at least in daylight hours -- is in Idaho. I know because I got a callback from them on one occasion and the area code was 208. And I can detect when there is even a trace of an Indian accent in someone's voice.

BTW, my DirecTV service, which does not include any premium channel packages but does include local channels, is $45.99/month. My local cable company, Time Warner, charges $39.95/month (plus equipment) for a package with significantly fewer channels (and it would be at least an extra $6.00/month to add two more tiers to come close to the DirecTV channel total).
______________
