Technical changes denied for CIYM 100.9 in Brighton, Ontario

My Broadcasting corporation's application to raise the power from 316 to 2,680 watts (316 to 5,000 watts maximum ERP) at CIYM 100.9 in Brighton, Ontario was rejected by the CRTC today. Antenna height would have been lowered from 154.5 to 146.5 metres (EHAAT).

The CRTC is of the view that the applicant has demonstrated a compelling technical need for the proposed amendment. However, while acknowledging this technical need, the CRTC notes that the requested power increase would extend CIYM’s primary coverage area well beyond Brighton into the Belleville/Trenton market.
