Technical Question for Anyone Out There

How is it that on Analog TV that channels 4&5 can be together but the rest of the channels in the spectrum of NTSC cannot? Doesn't exist in Atlanta but in other cities. At least this is one of the few cities in the nation where you can place your VCR or Game console on either channels 3 or 4. Is WUPA going to change its call letters when the CW starts?

4 and 5 are not adjacent frequencies.

6 and 7 can also be in the same market for the same reason
(IIRC, Denver comes to mind as an example). 2-6 is low-band
VHF, 7-13 high-band VHF.

Correct. There's a gap between 4 and 5, one between 6 and 7,
and one between 13 and 14 (El Paso comes to mind on this last).
