Technics SL-P1300 parts

Has anyone got one of these in bits - or has been cannibalised for parts?

I am looking for the rear panel (that carries the sockets) and possibly the balanced output PCB.

Yes I know there is one on Ebay, but it's more than I wish to spend, they don't ship internationally and I only want two bits off the whole machine.

It sounds like you're trying to convert a 1200 to balanced out. I had a few 1200's at the AM I engineered and there was an after-market kit that added the balanced outputs. The supplier they got them from installed the kits prior to delivery.

Otherwise I wouldn't invest a lot into it. The 1200's were problematic, between the door switch failing to laser issues.

Hi Bill,

Yes, that is the plan - to convert my SL-P1200 to balanced outputs. I thought that if I got the rear panel off a 1300, it would at least look "stock".
I could just drill some holes in my one and mount some XLR sockets but the 'factory' way always impresses me more.
Any idea who supplied the mod kits?

It's been at least 20 years since the station got the units. In fact the station is no longer around as it became an NPR satellator about 10 years ago.

You could always pick up something like a Henry Matchbox II and hide it under the console so it's not seen. I've done this with other units and the small additional electronics really didn't compromise things like signal to noise ratio all that much.
