TechSun PL-880 External Antenna

This radio arrived with a one-ended long-wire antenna, that plugs in with a normal "earphone" mono plug. Are both polarities of that jack internally connected? If I wanted to could I make a dipole with one element attached to each terminal of the plug? Or is it a "long wire only" connection without any sort of ground?

Thanks very much!

If you have or can borrow an ohm meter you can see if the antenna is connected to both the tip and the ring of the plug. My money is on it's just connected to the tip. If that is true you can build a dipole using one element on the tip and the other on the ring. If you are building a dipole you'll want to know what the lengths of each element should be for the frequency you are using it for. The good news if your using it just for receiving the length is very forgiving.
