Ted Byrne diagnosed with cancer

Longtime Charleston radio host Ted Byrne, who co-hosts FanTalk with Bobby Hartin weekdays on WTMZ, and who has been on the radio in Charleston for most of over three decades, has been diagnosed with cancer.

His Facebook status:

Into each life some rain must fall! Today I got hit with a thunderstorm. I have been diagnosed with Cancer. It is a B cell lymphonma. Not sure of all the details yet but will find out over the next 2 days. I have been at MUSC for the past week, going through test. What GREAT people here at MUSC. Thanks to all of them. I think they will release me later this evening to go home before I begin my out patient treatments.

God is good and with lots of prayers and friends we will get through this.

Sad news.

An update today:

I just want to say Thank You for all your prayers and good thoughts.
They have really helped me thru the last 24 hours.
I did not get to go home and am still at MUSC.
We have been very busy today with more test, and will have a bone marrow test done after 5pm today.
Will have a port put in tomorrow morning and then I guess we will have our first kemo treatment. The journey is just beggining but I know with your thought, prayers and positive comments I will get through this. Again thanks you all.
