What happens when someone enters just "104" in their Arbitron diary? Ted-FM is in a smooth jazz sandwich between the 103.5 & 104.3 simulcast. Also, WBNS-FM, which is starting to show signs of life again, has been overlapping somewhat more with Ted since 97.1 became Mix. And with the Brew also stepping on much of Ted's turf, Ted's got an even harder row to hoe even if Bob & Tom help some. This is all a shame as far as I'm concerned, because Ted is hands-down the best of the lot. Oh well, might as well enjoy it while I still can.
Speaking of 97.1, I wonder if their re-imaging and increased music style/era variety (relatively speaking anyway), may have hurt WSNY, which had its lowest 12+ I can recall in awhile.
Continuing with rambling thoughts on the AC/Hot AC/Variety Hits glut...After nudging above a 3 in a recent trend, 93.3 is back to a below-3 share, which is pretty awful for that signal. So I doubt Blight-FM could have been responsible for any accelerating damage to SNY. Why on earth CC/Columbus continues to waste the first new full-power signal to come to town in over 40 years is beyond me. The CC Philadelphia station whose format (and I use the term loosely) 93.3 was modeled on continues to flounder. I wish Ted were on Blight-FM's signal...in fact, based on the early success CC is having after *finally* flipping some of its stations to Jack-like formats, I wonder if that's what they would have done with 93.3 had it moved to town recently instead of awhile ago? Nah, probably not, since it makes too much sense.
