TED-FM's Stereo Generator

D

My trip down to Cincinnati on Friday discovered that the FM talk stations in the Dayton/Cincinnati area both have their FM generators turned off. Both 96.5 and 95.7 are 50,000 watts and broadcasting in mono. However, I noticed TED is only 6,000 watts and still broadcasting in stereo.

That's funny because when I tuned in on Friday in my car, it indicated the stereo was off.

I'm getting mono sound. But they should turn the stereo on during the Bob & Tom Show with all the songs and laughter.

Bob and Tom's show notwithstanding, it might help Ted to broadcast in Mono.

Yes, we're doing it in Dayton with WHIO-FM (95-7/Piqua). The reason is: going to mono helps to solidify your signal a bit in the fringe coverage areas. Given this station's already well known signal problems, mono might help a tad (or is that ted? Sorry...extremely bad pun!)

Ok, mono during Glenn Beck. Could it be they only have Stereo on during certain parts of the day since people are reporting different results? I am fairly sure they had stereo on during Bob and Tom and Shark on Sports when I reported my findings earlier. I'll try to remember to look on my drive home from work tonight.

Speaking of Shark on Sports... being a long time WBNS listener it's interesting to hear a fresh sports voice. He's not as polished though for sure. I'm sure the show will improve over time though. Frequent guests (already) are Barry Katz and Jeff Logan.
