Ted Hasiuk

I am sure most of the educated posters on this board know of Ted Hasiuk's "Cafe Jazz" program (that I am fortunate enough to air on Saturday nights from 6:00-8:00PM Eastern). If for some reason you don't, get to know the show. Ted has that knack you just cannot teach for selecting great tunes with vibe for his show. He is the consumate gentleman as well, and has been an absolute pleasure to get to know. I have been fortunate to surround myself with walking human encyclopedias of this genre, and Ted is certainly one of them. And like the regular posters on this board, his passion is undeniable.

Cafe Jazz might be the best programmed syndicated smooth jazz program I have ever heard, and that includes Art Good's Jazz Trax. I just downloaded 3 new tracks I heard for the first time on his program last nite...Steve Oliver's "Magic World" (never heard this played from his 2004 release 3D), Cinematone "Cosmic Cocktails", and Weathertunes "Ladies First".. Love hearing great new tracks for the very first time, makes the format truly exciting!

Never got this vibe off of XM, and as for BA, we'll leave them for the really old folks who want to hear overplayed Motown over and over and over!! ;D

He plays great underplayed tracks as well as obscure newer ones. He also highlights some wonderful forgotten tracks from the past, and hardly any vocals.

Is Canada that far advanced with their NAC/Smooth Jazz programming to put the U.S. to shame?

Sort of looks like it!

If you like Weathertunes, check Five Seasons / Lemongrass / Faro / Beachhoppers. All from the same stable of Lemongrass Music. Have gotten to know these guys pretty well from over in Germany. Spin them regularly at "The Future Of Jazz"

Nock

Ted has been hitting home runs for a long time, guys. Guitarist Pete Gitlin turned me onto his show over a year ago, and I have Ted to thank for turning me onto guys like Joe Fuentes, Allon Sams, and several others. It is a pleasure to turn over the programming to Ted for a couple hours each week, and it's fun just LISTENING to the music without me being over-critical of my own programming.
